And some people do. Like I said though, you typically wouldn't hold these jobs back to back. All total, you might work 6-8 months a year, at a rate of $150-350/hr. The higher you get, the less likely you are to be brought on for substantial amounts of time. ($350/hr might mean a two or three day speaking engagement across the country, etc.)
