<< Someone on another site mentioned this is the worst thing in the history of the world and someone else came back with the response that it just seemed like the worst because Americans were involved >>

i believe this is the worst thing, a hurricane that kills 10,000 people is an act of nature/god
an earthquake that kills 20,000 is an act of nature/god

25,000 people (or whatever the number turns out to be) killed by a small group of our fellow human beings is a haneuos (-2 speeling) act of WAR!

we will bomb somebody for this, remember libya in 1986? reagan bombed them pretty good for much less act of terrorism, GWB knows how to react to this type of act

We need to do what they did in "The Siege" with denzel washington, round up all the arabs and fence them in.

What good will that do?

bauerbrazil,

Poor timing. I probably agree with just about everything you think, but it's not exactly the best day to be pointing out shortcoming in US foreign policy (and God knows, there are a LOT of shortcomings).

Americans are looking for someone, ANYONE, to direct our anger toward. The most effective and frustrating thing about terrorism is the helplessness that we all feel when victimized by it.

It doesn't bother me that some people are lashing out at Brazil now - like I said, most of us need to feel like we are doing something, so the first target we find gets our anger. What bothers me is how ignorant the stereotypes of Brazil can be. If you think it's just a horde of backwards people chopping up a rainforest, you should be concerned with your own ignorance. I have never seen a country so beautiful, or a people so beautiful.

Is Henry Kissinger saying that we should nuke? Here is a quote from Yahoo News:

Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger told CNN, ``This is comparable to Pearl Harbor and we must have the same response and the people who did it must have the same end as the people who attacked Pearl Harbor.''

logix

well, let them be happy. Now US will be looking at revenge, not just those who did it, but anybody who has had a connection or REMOTELY is connected with this atroscity (sp?)

let them laugh. We as United States of America will have the last laugh!

<< If he is no longer in the military he can't be called back. >>

When I signed up for the Air Force, it was for 4 years active and 2 years INACTIVE reserves, where you don't have to do anything, but they reserve the right to call you up in a national emergency.
>>

my term in the navy was 4 years active, plus 2 year extension, plus 4 years "ready reserve" when you get out, "ready reserve" means that if something "BIG" happens, they can call you back

i doubt any veterans would hesitate to serve if asked, i have been out 5 years, i was glad to get out, but if the country needs you, you don't say no

Sorry mod, I didn't see the message on this post. Anyway... (copied and pasted from another thread).

After seeing the coverage and hearing the reports, I started to wonder: what was the mark of the other hijacked plane(s)? What structure would the terrorists want to take out? It would have to be a symbolic of American might, power, fortitude, ingenuity, etc... wouldn't it?

I started to think, the Statue of Liberty? The White House? The Capitol? FBI? CIA? Golden Gate Bridge? Empire State Building? Sears Tower? Wrigley Field? Microsoft? etc... What marks would the terrorists have considered and why?

This post is not meant to incite or irritate, but mearly to ponder what more could have been lost.

Well, I think that they smacked into the WTC simply because not only does it represent our economic security and might, Destroying it would also hinder our economic ability.

I joined the Army in 92 so I could bag a few camel fsckers. I was discharged last May after several years of IRR but I'm tempted to re-enlist. :|

Why does our media see the need to talk about secret locations that they may hide our government personnel in times like this? WTF?

<< Just got home from Manhatten oh boy this is horrible and my feat are dead from all this walking. This is horrible. No more words. >>

Whoa, how'd you get home? Port Authority closed all the bridges and tunnels outta NYC and all of downtown below canal is blocked off. Did they reopen the bridges?
