I hope someone can help me. The freelance administrator is investigating this issue as well. But never experienced it and had to look into it as well.

When i have logged on to the domain.
The point is , when i press the alternate mouse button on a folder or a file, the context menu comes up immediately. But when i press the alternate mouse button on the desktop or on the hdd icons in the navigation pane of the explorer view, it takes 5 to 10 seconds before the context menu comes up.
Now there is no shell integration and there are no programs that cause the issue.

I have an nvidia discrete card and a integrated gpu (I7 -6700). To make sure that it was not the nvidia drivers, i removed the card and booted up with the integrated i7-600 gpu only. The issue of extremely slow context menu appearing, remained. So, i can rule out the nvidia drivers. Maybe it can be the intel gpu drivers. Have not ruled that out yet, but to make sure it was not the gpu drivers, i tested in another way.

I remembered that when i was logged on to the pc locally a day before without connecting to a domain and without network, the issue did not arise.
I tested it again to make sure. and lo and behold, the slow context menu problem was gone. Now i can rule out both gpu's from nvidia and Intel.

It is a domain issue. As soon as i plug in the ethernet cable and log on to the domain, the slow appearing context menu issue returns.

Has anybody an idea what it can be ?
I ruled out gpu drivers and programs that add options to the context menu. This is an almost clean install W10 pro.
Only office, svn, and sophos virus scanner i have installed now.
Could be some botched install from sophos. Our admin is looking into it.

Anybody have an idea where to look ?
It has to be some network issue.
Also, i just updated the pc this afternoon to W10 pro , build redstone and the issue did not disappear.

Well, i googled about it and i found a very similar problem that turned out to be something wrong with the contextmenu options related to the Intel graphic HD530 drivers.
But in a reversed order when it comes to logging on to a domain account or a local machine account.
For some reason, it is a permissions issue i think, it was mentioned as well. So, nothing to do with the domain network.
But i read these links. Tried reinstalling the HD530 gpu with the latest drivers but that did not help.
Tried the solution by removing the entries for the contexmenu handlers for the intel graphic options.
And did solve the issue.

It is the options menu program for the Intel HD 530.

I did it by hand but this works as well, with this registry hack solution, i can remove the Intel options from the context menu automatically when merging it as a *.reg file.
And the slow down was gone. While Nvidia just gives an easy option to remove the Nvidia control panel from the context menu, For to do the same with Intel, i had to go into the registry.

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\igfxcui]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\igfxDTCM]

There is no issue at all since the graphic driver options are still present in the control panel and on the right lower side of the screen on the taskbar.

At home, i am still very pleased with my AMD cpu based system. ^_^
