not an mp3.. i posted a vid and used the direct recorded sounds for the audio.. it's only my laptop camera, but it's pretty good quality audio.

a minor affair (first take)

Please remember this is improv.. More or less searching for ideas and this is kinda how I log them. So there is some hesitation while I play from thinking out loud.

I think I hit two off key notes in the whole thing. You can tell because I frown when I do it.. pats self on back

I can post the audio if you want me to.

OK, I had a listen...very nice! You have excellent technique...very fluid. Liked it alot.

I extracted the audio from some website and posted it to the OP.

Thanks!!! I'll try and do a better take sometime today or tomorrow. I'm going to learn some of the phrasing I liked in this current vid and hope to get some better passes at it. I know I'm playing traditional blues phrasing, but I am trying to play soulfully.

I love how the 3 posted versions are completely different...nice work :)

I'll post an mp3 later unless someone wants to extract it from youtube.

I think this is a slightly better take. Still not perfect, but I do some more shreddy and throw in a wah pedal.

Yea, I liiiike it.

I listened to it after I upped it to my site and I notice it's a little funky at the end.

I also upped a little number i did this morning "Funky Woman"

Its not bad at all, it just cuts you off right at the end. The tune is damn good regardless ;)

Nice job Rick! Definitely got a nice Gilmour groove to it, I really dig the end especially

Yeah exactly, I love the kind of runs where you just wing a wild pick run and it turns out so well. I like the in and out of key lead lick too, very Derek Trucks esque!

I think my next goal is to take one of these blues songs and completely deconstruct it lead wise, making it as non-bluesy as possible :)

Looking forward to that!

Funny, I've been listening to the Allman Brothers lately hehe. I do have a pretty reckless style...but it takes me places I might not normally get to. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much.

I've got a few more started that I can't "quite" find the magic yet:p... I try not to spend much time on any one track though. I did "Funky Woman" in a couple takes this morning as a "break" from a track I'm struggling a little with...seems like thats how it usually works out :)

I'm the same way.. if it takes me more than 5 minutes to come up with a line for something I'll just skip it and go on to something else. You can't force the spontaneity/creativity

I'm the same way too. With the few youtube videos I have posted, I tried no more than 3-4 times to fall into a good feeling and groove. If I didn't, all I did was get frustrated, and it's down hill from there. 5 takes tops, else I shut things down and do something else.

Heh. I cheated and dropped the BT 1/2 step because that's always what I am tuned to.

I noticed that, I'm like wtf:confused:....then;) OIC :)

However, I must confess I'm pretty much always tuned down a full step (every song I posted in this thread as well). I pretty much sacrifice the upper couple frets since I rarely play notes that high without using a slide anyway.

That enables me to use extend my scales a full step lower, which leads to some interesting possibilities down low...where I like it. It also slackens the strings slightly so I can accentuate my bends and vibrato and also use a heavier gauge strings for a fuller tone. I started doing this back when I was playing around with downtuned Metal, and now its my preference most of the time.

Thanks, stay tuned, I've got some more coming.....and I'm also eagerly awaiting more contributions from others ;)

I started doing that when I got into Hendrix and G'N'R. Just easier on the fingers even though I use 10 - 46 gauge strings.

LOL, I started getting into Hendrix almost 40 years ago....I just looked, my "Jimi Hendrix anthology" is dated 1975 and I probably didn't even have an electric for a couple more years after that. Time flies man.
