Either way, i have to get something with better gas mileage. I do not want a damn boat, and do not want a piece of junk sedan. I want something sporty, as well be a sedan in case i need to take my kids around with me. I would prefer a maxima, but i am not paying that price for one.

Man you can get a Maxima real cheap right now. a 5th gen (2000-2003) hold their value worse than an Altima of the same generation. I was looking at an 02 SE 6 speed with 47k on it (kms) for $17,995 (Cdn!) It was a freaking steal!

Hehe, I paid $22,900 for our '03 Maxima SE brand new!

There you go :D
I took out a 2003 GLE the other day. I do not care for auto, but i wanted to drive an 02/03. Nice car. the 6 speed car was MINT, but it was sold right away once it came in. It was a spectacular price though.

I love mine... I have a 2004, Black... ZERO problems so far, and it's fast as hell...

It does get VERY bad gas mileage no matter how you drive it... I've got 45,000km on the car and it's still working just great...

Only thing I've had to replace was tires... hehehe :)

If you have any questions about the car specifically, shoot me a PM and I'll help ya out as best I can...

I wouldn't buy it, especially for a "family" car. Their crash test ratings are horrid at best, I'd certainly sacrifice some "coolness" for my family.

also, its not a family car i am after, i have a yukon for that. this will be my car, to use as i wish. transportation 40 mins one way is a b1tch with a ram. this will be for when i drive to and from the beach to pick up my daughter, and to get to and from work. I have a bike for all other purposes.

Another option is a 2k4 altima s. Its black, has 25k on it, and is pretty much loaded except for no leather... whats the opinion on that one?

Take the altima.

SRT4 - Faster and handles better. LOUD!

Altima - Fast, and handles well, quiet, practical, not a neon, more options included, most likely more reliable, with better mileage.

The SRT4 will most definitely be fun to buy. But no matter how fast your car is, even if it is a ferrari, you WILL get used to it and cease to care before very long. Not to say there is anything wrong with a fast car, but I wouldnt sacrifice all comfort for a car that can get you to 60 a second faster. Think about how often you really go full throttle anyway, which for most people, isnt every stoplight.

If you absolutely MUST burnout at every stoplight, SRT4 all the way.

Gas mileage on the altima is not all that. We got to experience that first hand when we got our '02.

Very fast and fun to drive though and it would have to be better mileage than the truck. Just don't expect it to be great even with the 2.4.

No one ever questioned that...

So... My question to you is... When you are telling your buddies about getting your doors blown off...

Was it by a NEON, or was it by an SRT-4?

Who wants to tell their friends that a NEON beat them?

Ok. Went to the dealership and looked at a 2k4 altima s and the srt4. The altima is a no way, no how, no sir. I couldnt believe how cheap everything in that car seemed. For some reason, i just didnt like it at all. From the seats to the dash to the interior at all. I didnt even drive it. I didnt need to. I dont see how you can be a fanboy of this car. Honestly...

Then i went over to the srt4. Now, this car is nice. It had the viper seats in it, all the guages for everything in white. A turbo guage, all the trimmings. It was blue. Beautiful car. One bad thing.... I DONT FIT. Im just too big of a guy to even imagine driving that every day. I had the seat all the way back and there is no way anyone is sitting behind me. Not even a child. Out of the two cars, i would much rather own the neon, but i cant see me driving either. Im gonna have to keep on looking.

Now, on a side note... i did sit in a frontier. A nice one. A 2004 King Cab (i guess) not the crew, stick shift v6, with power windows, cruise etc. It had the gunmetal rims, and a regular 6 foot bed on it. Now, this is what i am talkin about.

Gonna have to go back on monday to test drive a few trucks. I think i am totally a truck guy. I had thoughts of my old cars... and wished i was still in that situation i guess. Im not, i need a truck, i need the hauling capability, and i need 4x4. I also need the extra room for the extra cab. It just fits me better.

KK, thanks for letting me blabber on about cars. Anyone got any ideas for a car around the 15k range thats used, and would fit a guy like me? Im 6 foot 4 250 lbs. I do not want a boat. I need some sort of economic fuel consumption. LMK guys... i need ya!

1.)The "lawnmower" exhaust tone gets really old on the freeway.

3.)Basically a one trick pony(ie a car for autocrosses)

Look at Subaru. VASTLY better build quality and AWD.

Part of me wanted to buy an old SRT-4 and put some work into it, yadda yadda...and then I thought about actually driving one every day, and what I would look like in a Neon.

That changed my mind real fast.

I have an Saturn Ion Redline... its almost as fast as the SRT-4, has 4 doors, and IIRC, its a lot better in a crash. Its been a solid car for me and a lot of fun to drive.

Seriousl consideration: Mazda RX8. Its a coupe sedan hybrid, with mini rear suicide doors, and PLENTY of room in the back seat for 2 above average sized adults (i can fit fine, and im 6' 190lbs).

Also, way sweeter car than the SRT4

If you don't like the Subaru WRX check out an Acura RSX Type S... it's a very nice car. 6 speed manual tranny, leather seats come stock, and good styling

what about a Mazda3 2.3?
or a mazda 6?
or a Hyundai Elantra GT?
Never sat in any of them so I don't know if they will be big enough for you. If not, you will have to move up to the Accord/Camry/Fusion league

How about a domestic late model Oldsmobile Intrigue? Dunno if it's classified as mid or full sized sedan, but it sure is room in there. It's big, but has the torque to back it up and I find it more fun to drive (romp on it and off it goes!) than my other pathetic inline4 manual Prelude. No comparison.
