Damn man. Fuck Delta. How young are they coming in? Teens? Pre teens?
Also, if vaccinated people indeed is spreading it as much as unvacced, doesnt that mean that even with a 100% vaccination rate, the population is still gonna keep this delta thing alive? Possibly?

Our county's latest Delta patients include an infant, 2 11 yr-olds, 2 18 yr-olds, a 28 yr-old and a 30 yr-old.

My understanding was, and thanks to some help interpreting the relevant study, that natural immunity is real and long lasting. In my opinion, vaccinating those who had the disease is a waste of money, as is vaccinating kids.

So, despite all the pages of information you sought in order to learn, you learned nothing.

Because (& I know you know this) none of this was about learning. It was about justifying his belief things should go back to “normal” so he can make a living the way he wants.

I think I got a spare pair of bootstraps around here for him.

I have a musician friend who is now driving a delivery truck to support his family.

If everyone were vaccinated it wouldn't matter the transmission rate among the vaccinated and that means among everyone. If covid is rarely death threatening once vaccinated and among the vaccinated then covid could still make the rounds within society but more so as an inconvenience than a death sentence. And no doubt a yearly booster would be needed and simply added to the regular flu shot that everyone "should be" taking already.

Covid, like HIV, may be around for many generations to come but no one need die from them. However first, everyone must get vaccinated against covid. And I would bet that the virus would eventually peter out if everyone were vaccinated. But leave it to the denying pig headed ass-holes to keep this deadly virus around for years and years thus creating newer and more dangerous variants.

I say we gas them, the unvaccinated, with happy gas like in a dentist office, then inject them with the vaccine. And repeat once. No one knows where this covid is headed or how deadly of a variant could emerge, so eventually it comes down to the survival of the human race. While they would love to, lets not allow republicans to exterminate and eliminate the human race. At some point they no longer have a say in the matter. Round them up and lock them up (temporally) until they have been given all the necessary and required covid vaccinations.

I intentionally stuck with windows phones until it became impossible simply because they had the best privacy because nobody was interested in windows phone users. Currently with Apple because at least they allow privacy. Haven’t used an android since 2009 or so.
While I am not perfect I take this shit seriously. I do not like the idea of Gov or Business tracking where we go, whom we interact with and when we are home or not home or out of state.
I had to bail on my Windows phones a couple of years ago. I like the OS, but nobody was writing apps for it anymore. I loved my best Windows Phone, has an awesome screen, great sound but dang... no support! Having never bought an apple product of any kind that didn't grow on a tree, I got a used Samsung Galaxy S9 (activated on a Verizon MVNO), I also use a couple of cheap LG Androids (unactivated) I around the house.

So, my question is this: Does Android have no privacy???

It does now but imo as of now Apple takes it more seriously.
Basic stuff to remember
Apple is effectively a hardware company
Google is effectively an advertising company
Which do you suppose is better to handle your data.

First it took out the old. Now it’s going to take out the young. It’s to bad it just didn’t take out the stupid.
Well if I understand the situation we are in:
  • 80+% of dems have at least a single dose if not two
  • While it’s very possible to catch the delta variant even if vaccinated the chance of hospitalization (<10%? ) and death (<1%?) is much less.
  • Vaccinated individuals can be infected and carry a high load of delta in their airways making them likely to infect the unvaccinated
  • So vaccinated liberals will be infecting and hospitalizing almost entirely unvaccinated individuals who almost all are conservatives
  • Conservatives do not wish to be vaccinated despite easily available free vaccines and more than enough information about the benefits to them
So it seems it is going to take out the “stupid”. I mean with any other horrible thing this focused on a population segment the religious right would be raving about how this is gods will to punish sinners.

The biggest problem I see are the unvaccinated kids, those who have medical issues preventing vaccination, and the chance of more variants. The CDC needs to hurry up and approve the vaccines for kids.

Biggest thing to me as of now:
What happens when school begins?

They are working furiously to get the dosing correct. They can (and likely did) overshoot with adults because the risk isn't nearly as high. Not so much for kids, from what I understand anyway.

I’ve got 3 kids and an exchange student going back to school in a few weeks one of which is too young to vaccinate. I’m worried too.

Several people my wife works with just got sent home with symptoms - all vaccinated. At least one is a definite as he lost his sense of smell.

It’s going to be a rough month at least.

I don’t have kids so my words may seem harsh. I do understand parents concerns with young kids.
Seems young kids & teens recover fine. My friend who had COVID go thru his family said his kids all recovered faster than the adults. They did complain about being sore and slept longer but otherwise after a few days they were fine.
The thing that sucks for you is it will likely be similar to last year. Keep your kids away from Grandparents & friends who aren’t healthy.
Sucks and probably sucks more about having to be careful about letting kids friends into the house.

Delta is hitting young kids harder. It's a high chance they have mild cases. But still. Be careful out there. These numbers the last few days are ALARMING.

Our ICU is now all COVID - granted it is a relatively small ICU. We have both young and old. Our hospital COVID census is climbing as well.

I have 4 kids - 2 vaccinated and 2 too young to get it. As soon as it is available to them, we will talk to them about it and give them a chance to choose just like we did the older kids.

You 'muricans and your bootstraps... I don't need your help buddy, I already said earlier I made it fine through this thing and will be fine, even if I can't make money as a musician, which I have for 30 years by the way, not an easy thing to do.

Just because somebody didn't become of the opinion YOU want him to have doesn't mean he learned nothing. It's always so black and white with you guys and things this deep rarely are.

100% … Id say its even more reason to get vaccinated… and be first in line for the booster shot when/if that becomes a thing. The crystal ball I am toying with right now is a thing where this shit is never over and only intensifies over time and if we for whatever reason have a breakdown in logistics, hotspots, wars, diplomatic woes, this thing is always gonna be there to spring up into action. We need some new tech to battle this…
Countries is gonna need to get local fabs going..
Well there it is, another suggestion that this will never be over unless everybody gets vaccinated. That logic doesn't hold water.
