contacts not syncing(google/android)

Well I'm not sure why but new contacts I add to my phone are not being saved on my contacts list in gmail. I have to go into gmail and add them manually. This is a huge pain in the ass since I've had to ask people their number on more than one occassion due to flashing and my new numbers not being saved through gmail.

att captivate, stock rom, rooted.

any idea?

Settings > Accounts & Sync

make sure "background data" and "auto-sync" are checked

then click your google account, make sure "sync contacts" is checked

Did that prior to making this thread(syncing manually) and then checked my gmail account and it didn't update it whatsoever.

I have been having lots of problems with Google Sync for a week or two. Do you get the ! in the notification bar saying sign-in failed? You can go to settings --> accounts & sync and see what the status of Sync is also.

Syncing contacts can take several hours after you have everything setup- it doesn't necessarily sync with your email/texts/etc.

hmmm....this should be automatic unless its something that ATT is blocking.

I've flashed my phones more times than I can count and they always show up as long as I remembered to enable sync.

Try going into the settings on your phone, disable all sync, then reboot. Then go into your phone and re-enable it. Reboot again and report back
