I've had them for about 15 years now. I can put them in in about half a second if I have to
1. Put lens in left palm. Squirt with solution if you like. I never do, but whatever.
2. Make sure the lens is not inside out* (see below)
3. Orient it so the open side is up (sitting like a bowl)
4. Put your dry right index finger on your palm pointing downwards into it right beside the lens. The lens should be beside your index finger, on the side your thumb is on.
5. Slide your index finger towards the lens, lifting up the edge. Roll your finger slightly away from the lens as you slide towards it. This will put the lens on your finger.
6. The best position for your lens is just to the thumb side of the exact pointing end of your index finger.
7. Use your right middle finger to hold down your bottom eyelid. I don't hold open the upper one as it gets your other hand in the way, blocking your face/view/etc, and it's just awkward IMO.
8. Stare straight into the mirror, focusing on the eye which is about to be lensed. Make sure the contact lens is going straight into your eye, perhaps just slightly below your pupil. Make sure the lens goes in straight; don't push one edge in first.
9. Touch the lens to your eye very lightly. If you have the lens positioned properly on the tip of your finger and your finger is dry, it'll just come straight off your finger and be stuck to your eye.
10. There'll be an air bubble and the lens will be off center at this point. Do not blink. You can now use your index finger to reposition the lens on the center of your eye. Don't push very hard at all. If you get the lens positioned properly, it'll just stick to your eye nicely. Pushing too hard will have one of two effects: 1. It'll just stick the lens back to your finger and you'll take it out. 2. It'll actually invert the lens and it'll then be stuck nicely to your finger, again taking it out.
* To make sure the lens is not inverted, put it on the fold in your palm directly below your index finger's joint to the hand. Slowly fold your hand about that joint. The lens will do one of two things:
1. It'll fold up nicely like a taco.
2. It'll start to fold up, then unfold to look kinda like ^v^
If it looks like a taco, it's the right way. You can flip back and forth between the two to see what I mean.
