contact lenses and computer use?

I do a lot on the computer. I work at least 8 hours a day on the computer and then go home and play around on my PC for another few hours most days. Currently, I wear glasses most of the time but am toying with the idea of getting some colored contact lenses to enhance my eye color after reading this article about color contacts.

My question is, do those of you who already wear contacts and have similar time spent in front of the computer to me have a problem wearing them at all? My eyes sometimes feel tired and dry at the end of the day anyway, do the contacts make this any worse? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and help me decide if I am actually going to spend the money on these things!

I've worn pretty much every kind of contact there is, and I've never had any problems with it. However, for all of my eye issues, the one thing going for me is that I do have "wet" eyes.

I wear glasses sometimes and contacts other times. I'm on a PC all day and pretty much all night and have never had a problem with the contacts or glasses. Go for it 🙂

If your eyes are already getting dry....maybe specialized contact lenses will work better for you? Otherwise I only see them getting drier.

If you are having dry eye problems with glasses, you'll definitely have the same thing with contacts and it'll be more uncomfortable since you'll have dry contacts on your eyeballs. What's happening is you are blinking less since you are staring at a screen all day. I had dry eye problems with wearing contacts everyday and computer use. What's improved my situation is wearing glasses a few days each week to give my eyes a break and switching to a different contact lens brand.

I used to wear Coopervision, I think...they would get uncomfortable watching TV/etc. I now wear Acuvue Oasys and they're great.
