Yup, they're for hard lenses only.
I don't think I'd be able to get mine out without one.

So your lenses are really helping you out? That's great. I was really concerned for you when you posted that thread a while ago about your eye condition.
Yup, it really is annoying. I have to go in for an eye appt pretty soon and I'm thinking of just buying both a pair of glasses and contacts; I do Tae Kwon Do and I'm only going to wear contacts on the day I have practice just in case I get kicked in the face; otherwise, I'm gonna wear glasses since I don't want to deal with the hassles of putting in my contacts. Actually, I find both glasses and contacts annoying - maybe I'll look into that lasik thing when I'm in my twenties since my eyes perscriptions are still changing.
Anyway, to answer your question, contacts work for most people. But if you have stigmitism, they'll be very expensive. If you do anything physical where glasses would be a nuisance, go with contacts.

putting in/taking out annoying? maybe with hard ones... no prob with accuvue 2... pop in one handed, then close your eye and move your head around while keeping your eye pointed at the same place... its in! the only time taking them out sucks is when they've dried to your eyeball. then you have to wet them or whatnot.

Contacts are so easy to put in and take out after you've done it for a while.
Been wearing them for 4 years now.. I first started with Focus Dailies, the most comfortable contact I've worn. They're so easy to take care of as well, put them in, then throw them away at the end of the day. I switched over to Optima FWs because they were cheaper, though you have to clean them and put them in solution.
You should always have a pair of glasses as well.
That being said, when I turn the right age, I'll get LASIK done. One doctor told me I had to wait until I was 21, another said 25..

Just got back from the eye doctor. 180 bucks for contacts, and thats my cost after my insurence pays :Q. Are they really that spendy? He told me my eyes are not that bad.....only need them for driving at night or when I go to the movies.
my contacts are 30 bucks a pair. but they are not the disposable ones.
hmm u guys are scaring me about this "only 8 hours a day" wear. because i wear mine pretty much the whole time i'm awake.
but yeah...never sleep with your contacts. it sucks trying to get those suckers off your eyes after.

Goto Walmart, they offered to sell mine to me (monthly disposable Focus, for my Astigmatism too) for $80 for half a year supply. I went to my eye doctor to get my prescription and they offered a price match, so I got it there. I've been wearing mine for 3-4 years now and have never had an eye infection. They don't bother me and sometimes I forget I'm wearing them.
I went back to glasses after wearing contacts for all of high school. I still wear contacts when I'm playing sports or snowboarding though.
Glasses are just more convenient, and I've become something of a lazy bum.
However when you wear contacts you'll forget that you have them on, and your field of vision is unlimited. You get a taste of what life would be like if you had naturally good vision.
I have really sensitive eyes and one time I had these little allergic bumps on the inside of my eyelid because of contacts. Not cool.
