Oh, man. I heard about that stuff and did some research recently after switching contact solutions.

People buy that stuff and forget to read the bottle thinking they're all the same -- I'd be guilty of that at some point. That stuff apparently cleans lenses incredibly well but it'll burn your eyes out if you don't let it neutralize in the included case properly.

it's a mistake you only make once.

Sure you can. You just choose to spend more. Super high index and designer frames are never required.

Yea I've had my two pairs of glasses for $70 with the eye exam included. This was from a place that didn't take my insurance anyway. Of course they weren't designer frames but I didn't care because I hated glasses anyway.

It always starts out that way with the crazy deal to get you in the store but those guys are highly trained ninja salespeople who somehow can talk you into a $300 bill worth of enhancements in the end :D

Well I just picked two pairs for the $70 deal and said no to everything else. I wasn't listening to all their add on crap.

If you order online you can get all the fancy stuff for a fraction of the price of a local optician. I've gotten complete glasses with high index lenses, UV, scratch coats, etc for less than the frames cost locally.

Yeah, this is how it usually is. Even designer frames online are much less expensive.

goggles4u is another site people use.

my warby parker frames and lenses have lasted for years. i can't even count the times i've rolled over them in bed after falling asleep.

accuvue 1 a days have been great using them at close to a week at time for over a decade, prescription hasn't changed. but all people's bodies react different so who knows what that would do to your eyes.
