I just did a search on forklift. The results were nothing like his little presentation. No link filled BS pages.
Either:
A) He contrived the entire demonstration out of vapors and baling wire.(possible)
B) Google has already dealt with this issue.( more likely, IMO)

Alltheautomotive, alltheindustrial, those sites no longer show up in the search.

OMG THE TRAFFIC IS EXPLODING! EXPLODING MORE THAN STARBUCKS! NOTIFY CNN!

I agree...its almost like watching a Micro$oft video! Anyone care to post what the main point of the video is?

-People make websites and have google adwords links.
-Site have no content and only have more links to other sites listed in google's search results.
-Said people make money when the people click on the link on their site instead of through a link on google.com
-Said people's sites climb to the top of the google search pages and push down legitmate and informative pages.
-Users must sift through search results with BullSh!t detectors set to max and waste time looking for the information they need.
-Google loses integrity, google users have to work harder to find good results, thus negating the point of google.

QFT, how could anybody defend these unscrupulous advertisers?

that's what i'm saying... but some of these lazy-asses are like "omg, i'm not watching the whole thing... why spend 2 minutes typing up a quick e-mail to try and make sure i don't spend 50 whenever i'm trying to find a valid search result"

adblock FTW.

how does adblock help google's public service in the long-term? it's only helping you short-term.

if this persists, google will be overrun with pages and pages of useless search results (like it is now, pretty much). i don't know about you, but if i'm trying to search for something for a research paper on thoracic outlet syndrome or huntington's or something, i don't need my top results being bullshyt links to more search results.

it's kinda like the fed making more money... it devalues the money you've already got in your wallet. so, why not send a short email complaining about adwords and how they're shooting themselves in the foot by not monitoring these douches and save yourself the trouble in the future whenever you try to search for stuff?

i wanted to also make a note to the sophisticated film critics who post about how it's a crappy video or that the video sucks or something...

believe it or not, it's not meant to be a well-produced piece of creative genius. it's not meant to be a documentary, either. it's meant to let you know what's happening and how it's important to you. it isn't meant to be spell-binding motion picture marvel.

just watch it.

oh stop it already, people don't want to watch it and people don't care about it and quite frankly there are much bigger issues to worry about than some stupid clicks on a search engine, stop losing sleep over this.

It's not taking money away from the person who clicks on it, and if it takes credibility out of the program, then ad prices will go down, which makes it cheaper to advertise if you own an online business.

So what's the problem?

AFAIC, I don't care about the advertisers or the sponsored links, I care that I want it to be easy to find what I want on google without getting ads for BS sites on 3 out of 4 tries or more.

It's no different than having to delete 3 or 4 spam emails before getting to a legitimate email -- It's a total waste of time and it's completely unwanted, among other things.

People still use Google? I thought that fad was over.

uh.....there went 9 minutes and 44 seconds of my life....

I don't know which is worse...this guy's point, or the fact that I didn't close the window after 15 seconds of watching it. Kind of like a horrific traffic accident...I just couldn't look away.

So if less people click them, it takes more convincing on the ad's behalf to convince the user that the ad is worth clicking on, which improves the quality of ads.

Also, less ads, mean lower price. So it's cheaper for the advertisers and more effective.

Tell me again, what's the problem?

just turn off ads for content, only do search ads. i never used ads that show up on webpages, b/c alot of my parking sites have ads, and who knows who clicks them.

at least with a search ad the person had to type in what they wanted.

regardless, i use YPN (yahoo) for my credit card site. i make a nice ROI

its very simple
