What is the relationship between your glasses or contacts prescription number (i.e +2.5, +4.00, etc) and the distance value (like 20/20)? I searched for this but it is kinda hard to think about what other people would have titled a thread like this, so sorry it it's been discussed before.

I am -2.75 in the left and -3.25 in the right. I have a friend who is something like -5.75 and -6.00. I know I can't see worth crap without my contacts or glasses. It must really suck for him. I don't think that my prescription has changed in the last 4 years or so. I'm 22 now, and I think that when I'm done with grad school I'll look into laser surgery.

Mine are about -1.25, and I'm about 20-50.
The two systems of measurement are incongruent, since a diopter is a measure of the necessary thickness of the lens, while the other is a subjective measure of vision clarity.

I'm at -4.25 in my right eye, and -5.25 in my left. Mornings are fun.

my g/f has -8.5 contacts... from what she's told me, not many brands make them that strong.

I know that the power (like -7.25 diopters) is 1 over the focal length in meters. The minus sign is for nearsightedness.

As for the 20/20, doesn't it mean that if you 20/100, then you see at 20 feet what a person with 20/20 would see at 100 feet? Somethin like dat

I only got -1.00 lenses, but darn, my vision has only gotten worse since I started wearing glasses.

I used to be able to drive and do everything without them, ugh.
