construction question

I am finishing my basement, and I'm at a point where I am going to frame in a door. What size opening do I leave for a standard 32in wide door?

Don't remember off the top of my head... but you could...

1. Go to Home Depot
2. Take tape measure off shelf
3. Find 32" door
4. Measure 32" door
5. Return tape measure to proper shelf
6. Frame door.

I should know the answer to this. I re-did all the doors in my house this summer.

Add 3 1/2"

So for a 32" door, you would want a 35 1/2" rough opening. That would make your header 38 1/2"

I think you would want the height at about 83" from the floor.
