Constant windows registry errors

[*]My Abit kt7a-raid/1.2GBAthlonB/win98se gaming system has had registry errors for the past month(eight since monday). Yesterday I swapped out the generic 300w power supply with a new Enermax 350w model and I replaced the Maxtor30GB/7,200rpm(had half a meg of bad sectors on it) with a new Maxtor40GB drive, ran fdisk then format and installed the os and drivers and a proper shutdown. [*]This morning on boot up it said windows wasn't properly shut down, ran scan disk, loaded windows and then the windows registry box appeared "windows encountered an error accessing the system registry", reboot and repair. I then loaded Office 2k rebooted and the same thing happened.[*]I need some help, what else could cause these registry errors? Thanks

Are you overclocking? is your memory compatible with the VIA chipset? try switching IRQ hogging cards to other locations and try disabling the serial ports or anything you're ot using. Oh yeah - are you using latest 4 in 1's? and do you have a SoundBlaster Live?

Thanks for replying Mikendi. [*]I was running it at 1233(137x9) till last week and since then its been at 1200(133x9), so just a FSB overclock. I'm using 256MB sticks of Infineon, VIA 4.31's, com and printer ports are disabled in bios and I am using the SBL Platinum installed in the 4th PCI slot. I ran the system file check and ended up replacing the Setupx.dll with the original win98 file(maybe that was it?). [*]I'm using a Radeon LE(with the reghack/tweaker5 which boots at default 148/148MHz), AGP2 in bios/VIA standard mode, Motorola lightning modem in the 2nd PCI slot and LinkSys LNE100TX nic in the 3rd PCI slot. No conlicts in device manager. [*]Weird thing is this never happened with my Duron800 with the exact same hardware configuration.
