aright...i just installed a new mobo for my comp (as shown in my updated specs, which include StarTech 400W PS), booted up fine, and all, got the agp workin smoothly, installed my audigy sound card, my fx5200, all that stuff (didnt have to reformat which was wierd tho, but hey, i'll take it ne way). then, about 10 min or so it restarts on its own, then coming up with an error report about "windows recoverd from a serious error", and i've got no f-ing clue why it would recover from a serious error. none. i tried to switch my 2500+ with the 3200+ that was in my other machine with the non-workin agp, and didnt re-apply the thermal grease to the 2500 and its heatsink before bootin up again. could that be the problem, like a failsafe for the cpu? idk.. if ne one can help that'd be freakin awesome...

(btw...i got my computer on long enuf to play thru a lil bit of the first level of the doom3 demo, then it crashin sayin somethin bout a referenc(ed) memory error. but other than that, it ran 1024x768 w/ medium settings and 2xAA pretty tolerably, versus the somewhat smooth at 640x800 on low settings. so that was good..lol).

help me please. thanks.

well, i think i may have fixed the constant restarting (disabled S.M.A.R.T. disc from BIOS when i initially enabled it). but another things kinda screwy too. even tho its the demo, when i play the demo of doom3, i can play for like less than 5 min, and it either throws an error (the kind u can send an error report) or it throws another kinda error mentioning a reference memory error and gives a couple of x's mixed with zeroes on the dialogue box (for the reference memory error that is). and sometimes its one, and sometimes its two memory errors, others yet its bothe memory errors AND the error reporting kind. i've got no idea whats goin on with s--t. help if u can. thanks.

well, the question is still needed answering, but i've gone back to my previous working (except for the agp port, which pisses me off to noooo end) config. atleast i have a computer...my other config, the one listed in the specs on my most recent post, went down the sh-tter, and i had to go back to the other config. it was nice for the little time it lasted tho, playing doom 3 @ 1024x768 on medium with 10-15fps on an FX5200 128!, which wasnt too back all things considering...lol. atleast ik my video card's not THAT sh-tty!!, lol. well, if ne of u have an answer to this restart question or my HL2 question, lemme kno...thanks.

I think to sort out the problems properly, you are gonna have to format and reinstall.

Its probably to do with drivers from your last mobo. You were lucky to get this far. Well done.

Trouble is that we can go through the usual tshoot, and 2 weeks down the line, something else will happen.
Good luck fella

thanks man...i ended up, like i said, switchin back to the agp-muffed-up mobo, reformatted, and its running smoothly (tho the agp is still registerin PCI x0 for some reason...i dont have PCI-E on my mobo, so i really cant explain that sh-t. eitherway, its running a bit smoother with the addition of the 256 stick of pc2100 (even tho i put the faster speed pc2700 closest to the cpu, which is what ur supposed to do...and its registerin all 768 as pc2100 in the BIOS, but hey...the comp works for now, and thats all i need in actuality...lol). so that's a big plus...

keep doin ur stuff here guys....u all are the sh-t!!!
thanks....

ps...if u can get anybody to help me on the hl2 problem i've been dyin to solve, that'd be f--kin awesome!!! i'll try to re-install and everything hl2 now that i've reformatted....hopefully it works....

peace.
