My uncle's computer has a problem where the floppy drive likes to access all the time. he has to keep a disk in it just so it doesnt' vibrate his case apart :) Anyway, I ran ad-aware on it to check for stupid programs that may be causing the problem, and I also scanned for virii w/ norton av. There are no programs in the task manager that are spiking the cpu because of it I don't believe. Also, disks still access fine from my computer. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Perhaps the drive has gone bad or the on-board floppy controller. Do you have another FD you could swap in?

This is a known windows issue.

It's very annoying though isn't it? Anywho, I think a google for: windows +annoyances +"floppy seek", will yield the solution you're looking for.

Good luck
