It's almost funny, how he got away with, indeed profited greatly from, all his ruthless and ethically-questionable behaviour when he was getting rich, but as soon as he tries to turn virtuous and 'secure his legacy'/get into heaven, he finds himself becoming a hate figure and centre of mad conspiracy theories. No good deed goes unpunished (and every wicked one is rewarded).

I cut ties with my own MAGA family well before MAGA was a thing. She's definitely struggled with her desire to maintain a relationship with them and their handwaving away any suggestion the admin is engaged in wrongdoing or that they're engaging in trans genocide, with her brother saying that they shouldn't let politics get in the way of family. Like, yeah bro, it's cool that for you as a cishet white man this is "just politics", I don't really have that luxury. If I make a weekend trip up to Canada, will I be able to cross the border to get back home? Will they take my passport and detain me? ￣\＿(シ)＿/￣

Oh, they've been evangelical Christians for decades, we already knew that.
Frankly I'm surprised any of their children still talk to them with the stories I've heard, I think they were terrible parents.

Most of this forum hasn't been outside the US so just thinks of what's going on as idiocy but it's part and parcel of religious nationalism.

Don't be surprised by:

Taxes for people who're not Christian.
Fines for people who don't talk in English.
Green cards being revoked from unpreferable people.
Entrance into America tax to be collected at Airports.
Surcharge for people to consume services.. (local charge $50, undesirable charge $500)

Hell if you've ever been to Pilipinas, you'd know.. local person room rent 400 pesos. Foreigner rent 6000 pesos!

MAGA architect Steve Bannon said Tuesday he is “working” on ways for President Donald Trump to run for a third term despite constitutional term limits.

Bannon, who served as a White House adviser during Trump’s first term, told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo that he and others are figuring out ways for Trump to run for office again. He predicted that Trump would win the 2028 election despite presidents being constitutionally limited to two terms in office.

“I’m a firm believer that President Trump will run and win again in 2028,” Bannon told Cuomo.

He did not offer any specifics on how Trump could run for a third term when asked how Trump could bypass the Constitution.

“We’re working on it. I think we’ll have a couple of alternatives,” Bannon said. “We’ll see what the definition of term limit is.”



Well there you have it..

He will only leave the White House as a corpse.
 
So my town of less than 7000 is looking to install 75 cameras that can also track license plates around town. Apparently we have bad crime that I haven't heard about. They want to be clear they aren't going to spy on the citizens because they don't have the staff for that. The first phase is installing cameras on roads in and out of town.

Um, the fact they are installing cameras and that they can track license plates is spying. And the fact that they can hire more people (or use AI) to monitor these cameras is dystopian. The police state is here.

I loved WordPerfect before Windows appeared. You could see all the control characters and it was page oriented. Seemed MS really wanted them out of the way. Soon as we transitioned to Windows then came Word.

I use Open Office in windows.

While I was overseas.. none of the internet cafe's could afford MS Word but they wanted compatibility so they all used Open Office.

Works with LMDE too.
