Good chance this makes it on the RNC tonight and is used to justify the muslim ban by Trump:

I still can't work out what on Earth that rioting was about. The reporting has been extremely unclear. Some reports seem to suggest it may have involved the Roma community.

Curiously enough, there have been tensions between the Roma and the (South Asian descended) Muslim communities in this country.

Though TIL that there are Muslim Roma (no idea if that has any relevance to any of this, though).

[Edit] obviously "Tommy Robinson" (or Yaxley-Lennon or whatever his real name is) is not a reliable source for information about any of this.

Kid was dropped out of a window and got a head injury.
Social services decided that the kid and siblings needed to be taken from the parents.
Stand off between extended family and police/social services occurred.
Everyone likes a riot so disorder grows as more people see it on social media.

And, yes, it was a Roma family but I'm not sure that that makes a lot of difference to what happened.

Yeah, I just remember the early-80s rioting (that some of my then-classmates participated in - went to school not far from where it all happened). That time it all seemed to have real socio-political meaning (to be soundtracked by The Specials' Ghost Town).

In comparison, I have little clue what the underlying meaning of this was.

Don't see any reason to associate it with any particular religion or what Farage meant by referring to "the politics of the subcontinent". There was an outbreak of trouble quite a few years ago that seemed to be a fight between Hindus and Muslims, as I recall, but this doesn't seem to have been that.

Pretty much every civil disorder I've been at loses it's focus as soon as the baton charging starts!
