Console Problem on cisco switch

hhehe, Just got me another cisco switch for my lab. Btw its a catalyst 5509.
For some reason I cannot console in to this switch, I've used my console cable that I've always used on other router and switches. Any idea what I've could have done wrong ?
Anyway, I dont have much time to test because it was during lunch that I went back home 🙂
I'll check it again later when I get back.... Btw the supervisor engine is WS-5530-E3

have you tried the break sequence? Sometimes the console is disabled.

my craptop, er laptop won't work to console into our 2600 routers, but is fine for our 2900 switches. Could just be a flakey serial port. Try another port?

I only have 1 5500, and it requires a straight thru cable for console instead of the null modem.
