Console Price Drops

With the rumored price drop of the PS3, why won't Microsoft drop the price on the upgrade hard drives?? There is a rumor that they will drop the price of the PRO version around E3.

Why should they,
- 360 is outselling PS3 2-to-1.
- the rumored PS3 price drop hasn't happened yet so it has no effect on 360 sales.
- they upgraded the Pro to 60 GB which is good enough for 99% of their customers.
- the Arcade refurb drive is only $30 and people are willing to pay that.

People upgrading older Pro models are a chance for MS to gouge, just like they do with the wifi adapter. PS3 has had built-in wifi for over 2 years but the MS version is still a $100 list add-on. They are a business, they want to make money off you.

If and when Sony slashes the price on the PS3, MS while likely trim their prices as well. With the 360 being cheaper to produce, especially now with Jasper, and the higher volume of sales, MS can afford to cut prices far more than Sony can. Sony just posted a 1.1 billion dollar loss, didn't they?

I'd love to have a PS3, but the only game I'm actually interested in is FFXIII, which won't be out in the US until 2010. I've thought about picking up one of the new PS2's with the integrated power adapter to play some of the older FF and other PS2 RPGs, but it'd still be a pricey project because I don't own a TV yet.

Not to mention that it's also coming out on the 360.

You won't regret it. You can buy a handful of decent PS2 JRPGs from GameStop for what one new 360 or PS3 game will cost.
