KOTORII for XBOX has tons of glitches, and freezes up commonly in big battles.

I played this for 16 hours straight (i am teh luz0rz) and no lockups, not even with 15-20+ characters on screen.

I've never had a total freeze up, but it definitely lags pretty bad, even when navigating through the menu. makes me wonder if the initial game design was for the PC platform, rather than the Xbox.

I don't know what you're talking about... my NES locked up alllll the f'ing time. Then you have to do that ritual blowing on the cart, then jiggling it, jamming another cart in with it, and punching it.

That brings back memories... The jiggling and blowing, yup. The best part is that such simple troubleshooting really fixed the problems.

Ahhh the memories 🙂

I used to use q-tips with rubbing alcohol on the cartridge contact surfaces

Which game?

Metroid Prime (the first one)

this was actually a big problem i believe, and i remember when it first came out hearing about it. nintendo made a statement saying you could mail them your copy and they will send you a fixed one for no charge.

did you just get this game or is it a used game that was purchased around release date?

Winnar!

The reason the NES would freak out is because the contacts were dirty on both the game and in the console.

A quick cleaning would always fix it.

the shirt blow worked better

Two things....is the disk clean? The gamecube can be picky about the disks sometimes. Also, you don't have the cube sitting on carpet do you? ...possibly covering any air vents.

I don't think there are any air vents underneath; just the expansion ports.

Here's some insider info. I used to be a test lead at a major game company making Xbox games. I know that M$ tried to crack down on this before I left, so I'm not sure how rampant it is anymore. But, I do know that if developers had a crash that they just couldn't track down close to RTM(release to manufacturing), they would mask the crash with a dirty disc error. So, even though it pops up a dirty disk msg, the disk might be perfectly fine and you have, in fact, found a crash in the game that was spackled to pass certification instead of being fixed.

Testing = Red-Headed Stepchild of game development
