Console games aren't supposed to lock up.

Hmmm. A buddy of mine was playing the new GTA game on his PS2 and it locked up twice the in the span of a couple hours...

Don't some of them overheat?

weren't there stories of Green screens of death on the xbox. were those founded or not?

is your disc clean? If it happens in the same place every time, take it back or take it to a game shop, buy a used copy, swap the discs and return it. Yeah, it's downright wrong and a dickish move, but you get to play the game 🙂 hahah
 
I don't know what you're talking about... my NES locked up alllll the f'ing time. Then you have to do that ritual blowing on the cart, then jiggling it, jamming another cart in with it, and punching it.

That brings back memories... The jiggling and blowing, yup. The best part is that such simple troubleshooting really fixed the problems.

same here

though, the thing is, i kept the playstation on for about 5 days straight

it takes too FVKIN LONG for GTA:SA to load!!
 
I've seen a few crashes on consoles, but very rarely...

Heard about a Metroid Prime crash, don't remember if it happened to me. If it did it was only once. Great game, I want to play the second but I'm busy with WoW and other stuff.

i remember everyone had a different "technique" to get NES games to load. its become even more of an art now that the systems are so old. the lounge in my dorm last year had an NES + 80 games or so...half the time was spent getting random old games to load up 😀

I've never seen a GSoD on my xbox, but I have found xbox games to be buggier than PS2 or GC games.
 
my box never gives me a green screen, but it has locked up a few times, and i have had corrupted saves before (chronicles of riddick)
 
ftr i've never had my xbox freeze on anything. it occasionally gives me the false dirty disc error with halo
