With the advent of UEFI, 'boot from device' proceses seems to have changed. What boots up a pre-UEFI bios system often seems to choke on a UEFI system. I have 2 UEFI boards here (Asus Max Hero and a cheap Gigabyte GA-H81-D3). Both have inconsistent results when booting from USB or CD.
The 'bios' have secure boot turned off, legacy device booting, etc., yet these two machines experience difficulties that I don't have when device booting to pre-UEFI era boards.
Is there a 'one fits all' method of booting? Or even a 'One fits all UEFI' method? Is there a certain firmware or software required for UEFI USB boots?
What am I missing?
Thanks for any help.
