Hey! My GTX 970 is showing it's age and i'm tired of playing in 1440p at Low setting with 30-45 FPS...

I could get my hands on a GTX 1660 Ti for 580CAD or a RX 6700 XT for 1030CAD...i'm leaning towards the 6700 XT since it's a new gen card and will last a lot longer than a 1660 Ti would...but goddammit those prices suck.

Which would be the less -redacted- buy?

Thanks!

Yeah I remember buying the 970 even when the 3.5gb+512mb VRAM stuff came out. That card served me well with my i7-3770k until late 2020!

If you need to buy now, I think it is an easy decision.
Radeon RX 6600 XT.

It is the one that has the price inflated the least, great for 1080p, top card right now in performance/$
Yeah, I know that some people will come and argue "but, but the MSRP of the RTX 3060 Ti is only $20 more, and you get a faster card"
Indeed, the 3060 Ti is a faster card, and its MSRP is only $20 more than the 6600 XT MSRP, but find me a 3060 Ti in stock and remotely close to MSRP ;)

Given the current market, I personally don't understand why the 6600XT got such a tepid welcome.
RX 5700 XT / RTX 2070 super performance, decently good availability, price closer to MSRP than anything else.

It's always coming from reviewers that have dozens of 3080/3090 and 6800 XT/6900 XT lying around gathering dust. I'm starting to question their integrity sometimes, especially those that bash releases like this saying they don't understand why someone would release such a card right now.

A reviewer said at the end of his review: "Hey, if you need a polished turd to make your PC run and play games on, then sure, buy that polished turd." All that while having enough new gen cards lying around to build 30 high end PCs...

So yeah...i'm a turd that had to put a turd in his PC to play some games. I bought the ASRock 6600 XT Challenger D OC because it was the only card I could get shipped to my door step at a "reasonable" price. It's a good upgrade to my dying 970, but it's still frustrating to buy a 6600 XT for the MSRP of any other better card if stocks were available.

6600 and 6600 XT is basically OOS too. Paying 770 CAD for it is way more than MSRP.
