I currently have a curve, but my provider is charging me crazy fees to use blackberry services, and a BB without the email and BBM part is relatively useless. So im considering the E71, hoping i could get some info and opinions from you guys.

how does the email on the E71 work, does it pull emails from an imap server. Or does it go over some special push protocol from my provider?

are there any services that dont use the normal internet protocol (whatever that is on phones. eg. i do NOT consider the BIS to be normal)

How is the speed of the device (any lags)?

what about apps for the s60 OS, are they comparable to iphone apps (the iphone would be my ideal phone if it had a physical keyboard)

anything else you feel like telling me about the phone, please go ahead

Thanks a bunch :)

foges, first of all I would like to suggest you take a good look at the specifications page for the Nokia E71. It clearly mentions the following:

* Supported protocols: IMAP, POP, SMTP
* Support for e-mail attachments
* IMAP IDLE support
* Support for Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email
* Integrated Nokia Mobile VPN
* Easy Email set-up

As for the speed, I think it's the fastest Nokia released as far as I can tell, it's processor runs EVEN at a higher clock than Nokia's flagship E90 communicator which is a monster of a phone TBH. It can handle anything you can throw at it (mobile wise) I at some times have 5 applications going in background while working on a 6th and not feeling any lag of any significant nature. It's a decently fast mobile device, it has a 369MHz ARM11 processor with 128MB of SDRAM! That is some decent fire-power for a device of it's nature. As for applications, don't even think about it, if you want it you will find it most porbably, the S60 platform is pretty popular world wide. Now I can keep going on and on, but the best thing to do is to refer you to the Nokia E71 Users and Info Thread I made specifically for the Nokia E71 here on this forum, lots of info there, so head over there and ask more questions there for everyone to see :)
