Considering the new C300 Sport Lease

Longtime BMW owner here, never had an AWD vehicle and my current vehicle (740iL) gets around just fine in the snow.

I am in love with the look of the new C300 Sport and they have a lease deal that I may be interested in.

My question is, do I NEED the 4MATIC? I live in NJ so we do get a fair amount of winter weather here, but other being a bit better in the snow is there any other reason why I should pay extra for it?

I would rather get the non 4Matic with Navi for the same price as the 4Matic without Navi...

Opinions?

ever consider using a portable navi unit? factory navi options run about $1000- 2000 versus say a higher end portable navi unit that would be $500. pocket the rest.

you have to factor in that 4matic will probaly take up more gas, so you overall MPG will drop 1-3mpg, this is just a general number i didn't look exactly into it. 4 wheels turning, more weight on the car due to the 4 wheel drive system, more computers and etc.

i think tires and driver make the diffrence of weither or not rwd cars are decent in the snow.

with that said, i would take the 4matic + portable navi unit in the streets of chicago.

Well we already own a portable unit (tomtom). I wanted the COMAND package more for aesthetics and because it includes the pop up screen with radio and other features in there. I agree the factory navi is a waste of money, but the entertainment package that it comes with is pretty cool...

So, question still remains is the 4matic really worth it? 🙂

I'd be willing to bet the 2wd version of the C300 is plenty capable in the snow, just as mercedes and bmw's have been for the past 80 years. It's more complication and lower mpg that you'll maybe get a benefit from 2 months a year - i'd say go for the nav unit.
