And don't kill yourself. Life is going to have bumps. Everyone goes through things like this even if you don't beleive it. I lost my dad at 18 unexpectedly and I was a mess for a year.

Well whatever you do, don't do anything rash like seek out a immigration lawyer.

I have and filed my I-485/I-130. The problem is that my mom is leaving the country in 2 years and she has an interview with her "husband" every 12 months. And I don't know if I can convince my mom to stay longer...

Why the interview every 12 months? I married an american, filled out the I-485 etc etc and only ever had one meeting where we both had to show up and prove we were actually married.

Edit: What is your official status anyways? How could you live here 18yrs and not have even got your resident status?

From what I know, things have changed a lot in this regard since 9/11. They've tightened up the whole marrying into citizenship deal.

However, if your marriage is recent, and you still only had one interview...well then, I'm wrong.

if you kill yourself you are weak and pathetic, I have no sympathy for people who even consider suicide as a solution to their problems

Self-immolation w/ gas and a zippo is the only way to do it...

Apply for immigration or get married to a US citizen?

You couldn't get some sort of student visa when you go to college?

I can't afford the tution. Do you know how much it costs to Go to BU and live in Boston? 32k a year that's how much...

You don't have to go to BU. Go somewhere cheaper.

Yea like BC, harvard, umass,MIT, NE, brandeis, tufts or something

If you are thinking about killing yourself, what is your plan?

If you have a plan, when do you intend on carrying it out?

If you're ever at or near that point, please call 1-800-SUICIDE.

Life is more than just pieces of papers or where you live so do not be so worried or anxious about these things. Even so, have you truly exhausted all possibilities to your "problem"?

Think this through: you are more fortunate than maybe 90% of the world, by even being in the US for that long. How many in the world do not even have a place to sleep, or basic things like food and clean water, or safety? Do not give up on life so easily, so early.

1) Do u have a greencard? If so just apply for citizenship thru normal channels. No need for a lawyer... Write to teh office and tell them that ur mother is in Brazil and u desperately need citizenship so you could get a VISA to go stay with her for some time.

2) considering that u are already 18, even if ur mom married some guy with citizenship... you WILL NOT be able to get citizenship based on ur parents. The cut off is at 17.5 y/o to apply for citzenship based on the fact that either one of your parents are citizens. If you are not naturalized by now (ie greencard) u still gotta way about 5 years after getting a green card to even consider applying for citzenship...

go find some chick w/ citizenship thats willing to help u out... unless ur gay... then ur fuxed cause mass = no gay marriages lolz...

Well I'll start with my story... I immigrated to the US in 1988 (I was 1) along with my mom because my dad's importat business collapsed and because he decided to get sassy with a 14 year old... Well because my mom was frustrated she never thought of getting my papers through. Soon she's turning 60 and going back to brazil to live off her retirement. So she doesn't care about her immigration status but me on the other hand... I grew up in this country. I'm american by nurture but not by birth. My mom feels bad about this so she married a friend a while back so I can get my papers. Well now I'm worried because with the papers they're going to have an interview every 12 months... and in 2 years my mom wont be here anymore. I just wish she came a freakin year earlier into teh country so I could be a U.S. citizen. I honestly don't give a frak about brazil. And it pisses me off that this people come here and in 2 years they're already broken english speakin U.S. citizens. I just feel violated by it... I've had fantasys and dreams about killing myself in a pubic area as a last stand. Because if I am deported to a fraking country I dont give a sh!t about I will kill myself.
get off the internet and seek counsel.
go to public health, it's free, and there are therapists there you can talk to and they may also get you help with your U.S. citizenship.

Doesn't sound too bad you'll be alright.

Besides, Brazils a fantastic place.

I'll make a deal with you.

If you do have to go back, I completely switch identities with you.

I'll give you all my paperwork etc.

I have a pretty good record, no felonies etc. And then you trade with me and I'll go to Brasil if your mom helps me out.
