OK, so at work today this customer of ours (son of another customer) comes in and we're talkin' for about 30 seconds before I realize there's this CUTE LITTLE ah heck runnin' around his feet. (pic for ref only, not *his* actual pup)

I'm like...........WTF!!! That little thing is so friggin' cute!!!

Well, I've been itchin' for a while now. BUT.....................

I've had a couple dogs before. Last one was inherited.........(wife's dog)........and he ran away about 5 years ago. I just don't know that I'm ready for everything that comes with a dog again. (Food, crap, grooming, walking, etc. etc.) Puppies are great.........but then they become dogs and dogs are work!

???

i personally prefer bigger dogs than smaller dogs, 'cause bigger dogs like German Shepherd and Husky tend to be smarter~ I also have to walk them everyday, which requires me to get off my lazy butt and go out for a walk, instead of staring at a computer screen all day long ;) But they do require alot of the time/money... such as grooming, bathing, proper toilet training in the house, etc. It just depends on what you can afford and willingness to take on the responsibility... but pets, esp. dogs, can be really fun to have~ they are also a great ice breaker.

I've got a German Shephard/Husky mix and a Golden Retriever. If you do decide to get a dog just be prepared for all of the work involved. And don't be one of those people who play with them while they are puppies, then chain them up outside 24/7 once they grow up. I can't stand it when people don't give their dogs any attention/care other than food.

Dogs also get me off my lazy butt to walk them, otherwise I doubt I'd go walking everyday.

I have been thinking about getting a doggie too. But then when my mom spends hundreds of dollars in vet bills or one of them needs their stomach pumped because they got into the chocolate cookies, I forget about it.

Maybe you should look at renting: http://www.flexpetz.com/

oh god not a jack russell. I'm not a big fan of any terriers but those are the Devil. And you have your things backwards. Dogs are great and puppies are a ton of work. I've fostered 4 dogs for a rescue and all 4 came pre-house trained and already listened fairly well. Number 4 ended up staying.

there are guys in my apartment complex with little # Chihuahua type dogs. They are always talking to the single woman in the complex. Kinda sad but i find it funny.
