The only problem with that is you are paying $10k for an old mr2. The things are over priced.

And if you just regret not getting that V8 manual, you can always hunt for a 03-04 Cobra =) In fact the Boxster S was on my shopping list in 2003 until I heard what the new Cobras were doing :p

You can get a very, very nice MR2 for $10k.

Shit, a quick autotrader search showed 2000+ models for around 12kish. Why go so much older? Besides, the old bodystyles don't seem to look very nice to me. Only problem is the car is just a bit cheaper than a Porsche but significantly less powerful it looks like. 140HP is what I found? Is that right, that seems like shit.

The breaks were very touch, seemed to lurch backwards if you pressed them just slightly to hard and when going through the gears (automatic) it seemed to lurch forward sometimes and not in a good way. Maybe I just wasn't used to the car. *shrugs*.

Try a Solstice?

But like Skoorb said, keep the Mustang -- I don't really understand why you want a 'new' car.

MR2 not MR or MR-S.

Totally different cars. The MR-S is weak on power and isn't even mid engine. MR2 Turbo is 200+ HP and can see 300 WHP on the stock turbo.

See sig. My car will obliterate a ten year old Porsche Boxster in a straight line (13.65 @ 103.22mph). I've not had a chance to autox yet, but she handles quite nicely as well. Not quite stock.., but unopened engine. For $10k, you can get a clean car with a 3rd-gen Japanese engine making 245hp out of the box. High 12 second quarter miles with very minor modifications.

Solstice drove like crap. I want a new car because I want a convertible and stickshift.

What are your long-term financial goals (eg, saving for a house)? Does your job pay enough? Is your job stable?

Already have a house, job is stable and future promotions look promising. Wifes job is very stable as well. I make plenty of money to continue spending what I spend right now on a car and if need be a bit more (although I don't want to spend much more, for no other reason than enjoying saving extra money every month, not because I can't afford it).

They look nice, the newer ones, but performance sucks compared to other cars I've looked at. As for the old MR2's they may perform nicely but they look like shit IMO. Plus I don't want to go THAT old.

That they are. For some reason I was thinking the new ones were technically rear engine. Must be thinking of something else.

I'm conflicted. My wallet says keep the 'stang and STFU. My heart says go for the fastest, most exciting thing you can afford and keep it for as long as you can, because this is what I did three and a half years ago and I have never once regretted it.

So, yeah, I got nothing. :p
