I've been tossing around the idea in my head to upgrade from my Axp2500+ mobile system to a c2d with an x1900xt. I'm trying to save as much money as I can while still getting excellent performance, so I'm obviously going to OC. I have an Enermax 460w, will this be able to hold over on the new system or should I upgrade this part as well?

If your Enermax 460W has a 24-pin power connector plus the 4-pin "P4" adaptor then you should be fine. Especially if it has 28A+ in the +12V rail. Or dual +12V rails with 16A each (at least).

If your PSU doesn't have the 24-pin power adaptor then do not use it with a C2D or Athlon64 - get a new one! You need the 24 pin power plug for those motherboards. And don't even think of getting a 20-pin to 24-pin adaptor. Those can fry out the PSU (and do- I've seen it first hand).

depends on mobo, u will need either 2x4 or 2x2 CPU power connector, and 2x10 or 2x12 monotherboard power connector

my P5W DH , GA-96P-DS3 (which is prolly the best buy for E6400 , 6300 ) uses 2x12 and 2x2

D975XBX uses 2x12 and 2x4, it also requires a 4 pin molex conenct to the mobo which is odd

so in general for conroe boards, u need 2x12 and 2x2. also 460W should be enough for 1GPU and 1 Conroe
