Currently have a 7850 which doesn't overclock to 1180 core, stable as high as 1150/1450 and some videos of the 660ti in sli have me interested in it as a possible build coming up very soon

My main goal is sustainable good performance in BF3,my currently card drops well into the 40's with right settings at 1280x1024 which disappoints me honestly, and techpowerup and guru3d both suggest at 1280x1024,i would see nearly a 15fps average over a 7870,which my card nearly matchs performance wise.

The goal eventually is to pick up a 1080p monitor and sli the 660ti at the same time, but till i do,the 660ti is interesting me for its 1280x1024 performance, and i honestly believe for 1080p gaming,i would be much happier with gtx660ti sli from what i have seen on youtube videos.

But the msi gtx660 ti pe seems very interesting for cool n quiet cards that would work well in sli...

You're not going to be happy with the 660 Ti because of the bus limit.

It sounds like you have other issues.

What CPU & memory do you have? You might be better off buying a small SSD just for gaming. Samsung 830s are cheap right now.

My cpu is a i5 2500.

I would have expected this card could max this resolution but the desired 60fps+vsync requires me running medium with 2x hbao.

all high with 4x msaa offers the best eye candy for me,but some maps drop into the 40s still for me which i can't help drives me crazy,i know at 1080p a single gtx670 would offer 60fps easily+vsync without compromising to many settings,so i think i would go that route,as i need a 1080p monitor anyways.

660 Ti will be fine for 1080p and for the foreseeable future. As far as the 670 is concerned, it doesn't seem to come with borderlands 2, which could otherwise be sold or played.

Sub 60 frames will be recorded even with top level cards if effects setting is at ultra, occurring with certain high particle explosions, though only momentarily

If you are getting sustained low fps however, you are most probably CPU bottlenecked. In Battlefield, a quad core that is not too old is necessary and can make a dramatic difference in minimum FPS
