considering a motorcycle (again)

i wouldnt recommend an SV650.. its a wheelie machine..

go something smaller.. nothing wrong with a 500cc ninja or gs500f. Your trying to learn how to ride, master the skills, one of the skills is throttle control. Its best learnt on a smaller bike.
in the end you will end up selling it not lesser than what you paid for it.

I'm gonna get an SV650S as soon as I've got the money 🙂 I don't know where the hell you could get one for $2k, though.

Maybe you shouldn't be thinking about that diesel then.

oh a side note. I am getting an old bike from my grandmother. ITs a 1970 Honda 350. Its in pretty good shape, i'm excited as I have never ridden before. Should be a good bike to learn on since it doesn't have much horsepower (only about 40hp)

Do you guys recommend getting more protection then a helmet for a bike like this?

Still get boots. Even if you're going slow, the weight of the bike can hurt your ankle. Gloves because well, you're going to try to stop yourself from falling. Jacket, I think you're ok with a regular jacket until you start hitting like 30mph, which will be your first week anyway. So in the end, boots, gloves and a jacket.
