## Consider this a warning about using cheats on CS Server. ##

AT members enjoy a friendly game of CS on my server and I maintain a cheat-free server.

I will not name the person who attempted to cheat on my server using ping script.

You'll notice that all players have equal ping...even me. That is a ping script.

Consider this a warning.

Have you tried running PB? Sucks that you would have to run it though..damn cheaters!

Guys I also hate cheaters, and I use punkbuster, but in all fairness punkbuster has been known to over react, in some cases just trying to adjust your gamma will be seen as an invalid cvar violation on some servers. On the server I play I've been kicked after four hours of playing for something I still don't know what it means, even the guys I play with got a good laugh out of it, we've even seen the admin get kicked after playing for an hour because PB got confused.

What I'm saying is that PB is not %100, it still can't detect the wall hack and the Asus seethrough is still a problem but those are easily detectable while playing. Let punkbuster do it's job and yes it will kick people off but it's not perfect. don't start a witch hunt with something that's not %100 accurate.

I have to disagree there. Your ping is unfair. We're all 120-170ish ping, which you always have 17-30 ping. even? i dont think so....just felt like pointing that out. Thats good you're restricting cheaters cause i sure hate them

is it possible to get cheats without you knowing? i read somewhere on planetCS that someone had a wall-hack cheat but he was a newbie, had no idea. i'm asking because i also heard admins can do stuff while you are connected to their servers.

Right, I'm the admin that maintain the CS server. I do not run any cheat script. But, I can tell if someone is cheating.

Danny, I don't think you understood. What happened with the ping script a few days ago was that even my ping went over 250. Like you said...I should be getting 15-20 ping since I'm running off locally next to the server.

Certain players with bad connection...especially DSL can pull all players to over 300 ping.

1 single person, unless they are using this &quot;ping cheat&quot; cannot lag a server. It takes more than that. You can have a person with quite a high ping (say 300), but they only time they will lag you (or APPEAR to lag you) is when you are looking at them and they are moving very choppy.

Lots of people get fingered for using cheats just because they're doing good on a server. Thats just how CS is. People see someone doing well, and they call them a cheater.

I guess it's unfair to say it's a problem limited to CS only. I've seen it in every game I play, even in Tribes2, where the cheats either don't exist, or are so useless its funny (like the recent aim script).

It was more of a statement, that people are often quick to label a good player as a cheater, hense turning a lot of the good players away from public servers, and to private games, such as Neo's server.

Wish I could get in on a server where everyone was near the same ping, I'd have a field day! Only because with my usual ping of 300+ i'm used to having to compensate. I think the lowest i've had was 225, and it was like butter.

Also, when someone has an unusually high ping (lets say 400-600) does it really lag the whole server? I've had people bitch at me before because i'll be in my normal 300 range, the'll be in the 150 range and claim i'm causing server problems.

I usually have to laugh because i've got twice their kill score.

I was lurking this thread, but thought I'd finally post.

I'm fairly new to the whole online gaming thing (since March, when I got DSL ) and the whole concept of cheating just stupefies me. It's_a_friggin'_game! Just...Play! Why cheat? Ooooh, you fragged me again! You 'da man! Not. I just don't get it.

This thread is devoted to CS, which I've yet to play online...whenever I have spare time, which isn't often, I'll do some UT online. I'm a mediocre player. I win maybe 5% of the time and usually finish around the middle of the pack.

I've been the victim of cheating B4. I've played against players that kill me w/one shot from the Enforcer...when I have full armor. When this happens, I just F10 and find somewhere else to play.

I can understand NeoTech's frustration; he tries to do something good w/his own equipment AND his own free time. Setup a CS server for his friends to play on and some jerk goes and gets cute. Jerk. What did you gain? OK, you won. Big hoo-haa. You put yourself on the Sh*tlist w/your online buds. If you want to impress someone, actually practice the game and get better so you can win fairly. I hope it was worth it for you.

Good luck, NeoTechMan. I'll prolly never play on your sever, b/c I suck, but hope that things go well 4U in the future. Keep being a &quot;nice guy&quot; and keep your CS server up for your friends. It's a nice thing you're doing.

From what ive seen just one person can slow every player ive played on the same server with a 28.8 and a 46.6 connection and when i was at 28.8 everybody's ping went up.

PunkBuster isn't mature enough yet to truly detect cheats (and only cheats). You just gotta kick the cheaters off manually -- use common sense, it's easy to tell most of the time. nEo, did you ever get admin mod on your server?

I am an admin on our Dragon server, and I was killed by a guy using a skin cheat the other day. I was CT, looking for a T, and along comes another CT and kills me. Not smart to kill the Admin...

Neo, get admin mod. It will give you lots more options to work with, and you can llama Mday! Trust me, thats fun to do.
