In their ever ending search for boogeymen to continue ginning up culture wars add one more to list of outrages like...

CRT
Sharia Law
Mr. Potato Head
Colin Kapernick and taking a knee
mask wearing
NBA protests
defund the police
blue lives matter

I give you Gwen Barry Olympic athlete who protested during the national anthem. Now Republican members of Congress and the ENTIRE right wing media swamp want her cancelled. Now let's follow the logic.

Righties are pissed at her for turning her back on the flag, the same flag used by insurrectionists to beat and maim police Jan 6 where they don't care. The same blue lives they claim to care about but didn't on Jan 6. They claim to hate cancel culture but want to cancel her and also cancel their own who don't lie for Trump. Cough...cough...Liz Cheney...cough.
Rep. Dan Crenshaw calls for Olympic athlete Gwen Berry to be 'removed from the team' for national anthem protest (yahoo.com)

I recall saying no matter how black people protest white Republicans will ALWAYS bitch about it. Dan Crenshaw wants a rule anyone protesting during the anthem should be dropped from the team. I guess we should posthumously take the medals from these guys...

Fascist are going to fascist. It just goes to show you that even people with a military background don't understand what America stands for and we've already known that Republicans only care about the constitution if and when it gives them a political advantage.

Eh, I don't know. I wasn't really impressed by her behavior or comments. This was different than the NFL situation. She acted as if she was being tortured to have to hear the song, and pretended that it was intentionally played in order to persecute her. Sounds like she needs counseling.

She is supposed to represent the US in an international athletic competition. Domestic politics should at least be kept out of the Olympics.

I agree. However, going ape shit over it is pretty dumb as well. As usual, good job GOP .

Well of course, the very people who decry cancel culture want her off the team. It isn't lost on me that the conservative response to cancel culture is to cancel people with the wrong political opinions.

Still, this athlete is a drama queen and an attention seeker. All she is doing is providing material for Fucker & Friends on Fucks News.

I'm ok with the look but how was the avatar changed for this thread? I may want to use it for the future.

I'm ok with protests but they need to be better thought out. However this applies...

I think her defiance is pretty strange particularly when she in third place but whatever it doesn’t offend me.
IMO her cause would be better served if she did as many interviews as possible and spoke about it assuming she is smart enough to speak about it because we all know many athletes are not very engaging speakers and many are not particularly well educated.
