And the private sector has the same issue?
My experience with the Navy, is that it's very woke, before it became a thing. And one of my counter parts was the Senior Site Rep. at the Puget Sound Navy yard, and he was black. One of our chief scientist engineers had a PHD he got while he worked for the company was black, I mean I could go on....

It most indeed does have the same problem. Remember Arthur Ashe?
Before Arthur, no black kid thought he could ever become a tennis star. The country club environment didn't allow for that, and neither does the flying club environment.
It takes a fistful of money to get a pilot's license in the private sector. I happen to know about that 😁

In the U.S. 93.7 percent of professional pilots are White, and 92.5 percent of professional pilots are male.
That's quite the statistic. How do they keep everyone else out of the industry?
Unless you go through the military, it's very expensive to become an airline pilot. Becoming a pilot for the military is also pretty hard to get into for disadvantaged people for all the same reasons getting into top university is a hard for disadvantaged people.

FYI: Military pilots are officers, so have to come in through the academies or already have a technical college degree. Then you have to score very high on the ASVAB test, plus have the eyesight and being the right physical shape.

I think pilots used to be mostly ex-military so thats a pretty high bar. Now only about 1/3 are ex-military but paying for years of flying school is still somewhat expensive.

I actually tried to get @Greenman to use the r-word in a situation where it is pretty clear, but he just can't do it.

Correction, he just WON'T do it.

If I asked @Greenman if Trump barring black people from his apartment buildings was racist his answer would be...

it's wrongheaded
makes no business sense.
foolish
silly
wrong

He would never say it is racist.

Conservatives will always find another way to rephrase the same thing. It's either they hate political correctness, or woke, or CRT, or DEI. It all boils down to one thing, conservatives hate anyone getting recognition and opportunity that is not white, Christian, straight, and male.
