Conservatives are probably giddy. Mazdas can be damaged by NPR

Yeah I'm sure the details of KUOW's goof won't matter to the sockpuppets, or that it only affects 2016 Mazdas. The Qunts will have something to salivate about for a few days, then move back to rooting for treason and civil war, or foaming at the mouth about CRT. Then again, it's Seattle. Maybe they just won't care?

Could be worse than having your car radio stuck on real journalism I guess. Imagine a country "music" station, or worse yet, some Fox affiliate with nonstop treason promotion. Ugh.

Its a little wussy liberal car, it has too many computers, and it only happened to NPR listeners. So yeah, I bet Breitbart or somebody worse makes a big deal about how liberalism is a giant failure because of this.
Dont laugh, they've drawn some outrageous parallels before.

What would have been fun to watch is if it happened to Dodge\Jeep\Chrysler vehicles.

NPR still broadcasts on radio? Huh...who knew? I haven't listened to broadcast radio in around 10 years.

I can't get on with NPR, from what I've heard of their podcast output. They seem to have have that irritating desperate even-handedness that makes so much US media so bland.

For years my radio was perma-tuned to Radio Four, though eventually I got irritated with the BBC's own peculiar combination of liberal smugness and concealed conservatism. I honestly feel elite liberalism and conservatism are just two different forms of the same thing, I think they only pretend to be in opposition to each other.

I can listen to the few bits of Radio Four I find worthwhile via podcasts. Podcasts have mostly replaced radio for me.

Spend some time listening to All things considered, Market Place and Ted Radio hour with what passes for "talk radio" that others listen to and it's a dramatic difference

News done right is bland.
Trying to make it entertaining is what fucked up everything

I get what you are saying, but I find I just can't make my personal tastes conform with that argument. Maybe it's a cultural thing, just a matter of what one is used to, as here the news media has always been highly partisan and opinionated. With the exception of the BBC, which has that same NPR concern for being 'even handed'.

Insofar as I listen to radio at all now I find I listen almost exclusively to LBC, even though I hate it, because almost every one of their presenters is a die-hard Tory (bar one token liberal - who annoys me in a different way). I think I 'hate listen'. At least it doesn't constantly mildly-irritate me the way Radio Four does (with its sneaky pretence at not being as conservative as it actually is).

I find I prefer the populist right-wing tabloid style to the Beeb's insufferable self-regard, even though I disagree with almost everything LBC presenters say (and every now and then have to reach for the off switch when it gets too much).

One reason why I roll my eyes when conservatives here sneer at people being in a 'liberal media bubble'.

Edit - having said that, from what I've heard of it, NPR seems even blander than the BBC. Maybe because its position in the culture is even more tenuous and vulnerable?

You do realize that a digital radio might have an ardruino board as one of the components... which runs on Linux and thus... yah.
I doubt they use a hobby board in a car, most likely a custom ARM board. I have a '16 Mazda3 hatch, tempted to tune into NPR to see if it does anything.

Given the shortage specifically affecting the part involved that seems a tad risky

Yeah, I know firsthand from work that any ARM processor is on a year+ leadtime nowadays. I missed a chance a had a few years ago to upgrade my infotainment for free, they released an upgrade to add android auto and it had USB ports with more power. Mostly I had hopes the newer module had better bluetooth, it's quite pathetic in my car and I know for a fact it's not my phone from using rentals.
