Echo chamber? I don't even follow politics anymore. I don't listen to talk radio, don't watch cable news, don't read blogs or anything else. I really don't even have a problem with Obama, my problem lies with a significant percentage of voters who I wouldn't trust to get my order correct at a restaurant.

The entitlement mentality that I talk about is from real life interactions with people. Co-workers, friends, family, things of that nature.

You live in Arizona, which is a huge anti-Hispanic echo chamber. You don't need conservative talk to create a bubble, you're already in one. 4, 10, 12 -- your local news is all racist.

The entitlement mentality . . .

Really? Then how come you go right to the right wing political buzzword phrase "entitlement mentality"?

The Racist Islamist Communist wins again. The Nations Garbage Trucks will be converted into rolling Piggy Banks and FEMA will now go door-to-door to collect everyone's Cash.

Congrats

Great article. Those of us who get news from more than Fox had felt it for a while. Many of the Fox-faithful are probably too far gone and will ignore this article and not be introspective now.

The interesting thing is, while feeding low-information people what they want to hear is 95+% of what Fox News designs its content to do, it isn't 100%. Fox News is also a shill for Big Business, which sometimes conflicts.

It was enlightening watching Fox News towards the end of the Gulf oil spill crisis. Popular sentiment had turned against BP, but Fox News did not fully follow suit. Instead they would follow up every mild denigration with a quick exhortation that this was of course a witch hunt against BP and that we should all feel bad about ourselves for thinking bad thoughts about them. Watching them dance back and forth trying to serve two masters was quite entertaining.

Here's a very relevant article, one that those who need to read it most obviously won't-

http://www.thebaffler.com/past/the_long_con/print

"Conservative" sources have been working their con for nearly 50 years. They believe in nothing beyond making money, of course, and are utterly cynical manipulators.

Their motto? "Never give a sucker an even break".
