I mean, from a subjective standpoint they're not necessarily wrong. This one was perhaps the worst SB halftime show I can recall seeing. Even ones with terrible audio like the Black Eyed Peas or The Who were at least somewhat entertaining. This one was just bland and boring.

It wasn’t that bad…but it wasn’t the greatest. I thought the floating platforms were well executed and a novel way to protect the field. Rihanna was good—it was a good mix of her greatest hits. My only criticism is that she wasn’t the right act to command an entire solo halftime performance (but that’s subjective of course.) It would’ve been better had any of her many collaborators performed alongside her. It paled in comparison to last year’s Death Row/Roc Nation production.

This was also the first show put together with Apple Music as the title sponsor (vs. Pepsi) and in some ways the overall tone of the show was too “corporate”—there was little room for any fun or whimsy (remember Left Shark? Can’t believe they used the same producer that did Katy Perry’s show.)

I’d be stoked to see a real Foo Fighters Super Bowl show—hell just imagine a Dave Grohl-fronted show with greatest hits from all of his bands thru the ages. They did a VR show last year but they deserve to be on center field.

Well in the OT thread, some poster who regularly posts as a conservative called it the cow show. So yeah there is a pattern. It's become sadly predictable.

Honestly the show was better than I expected, but I generally hate the half time show regardless of who is doing it.

The show was incredibly boring. Just the same people dancing around the same stage for 15 minutes.

I won't comment on the performance.
Will comment on if you are going to knock up a billionaire twice, Rihanna is my top choice.

Trump is just jealous because he has never known what it is to be a successful talented self made billionaire.

I think i've enjoyed maybe 2 out of the last 20 half time shows, and one of them i thought was amazing(Prince), but i'm pretty sure i'm not their target audience.....

/i have just as much disdain for the half time shows that feature old rock bands (looking at you~ Rolling Stones and The Who)

PBS redeemed the night for me. They had a Little Feat resurrection (sans Lowell George for obvious reasons) concert which covered most of the Waiting For Columbus album. Had to wait through all the pledge stuff. Was seriously considering an annual membership to get the DVD and CD. Too bad I wasn't drunk like I was when I bought the Cream Reunion DVD and CD annual membership, way back. ;)

I actually thought visually it was pretty cool. The music didn't do anything for me though.

Interesting. I’m usually not a fan of half time shows and I can’t think of a single one that I liked. This one however I thought was good. The floating platforms I thought were awesome and well executed and visually stimulating. I liked the dancing as well. Rihanna I thought was ok but low energy but given that she was pregnant, I was more impressed than anything.


But I’m weird like that so…

Ever go to an actual concert of a performing group? Like any band, group, etc.?

Sounds like you’ve never gone to one. Imagine…one act on stage for over an hour, same people throughout.

Don’t suggest you attend one…you’ll be incredibly bored.

I'd rather they throw caution to the wind and just shove all the 90's hip hop shit to the curb. You wanna see some fucking energy? Let BabyMetal do a show; half the stadium's heads would explode, it would be epic.

Rhianna was pregnant. This is likely why she didn't gyrate as she usually does.

I don't pay attention to Conservatives when they criticize Black entertainers because their nonsense is mostly the result of jealousy and plain old hatred of Black skin.

No one forces anyone to watch the Super Bowl half time show. If you skip it, the world will not end. If you do not like the musical guest, a good poop awaits.

Conservatives cannot stand that some Blacks are excelling and that Black entertainers have become millionaires. What they refuse to admit is that many of their offspring enjoy Hip Hop and Rap music.

I remember when David Duke still had some influence that the KKK was forever demanding a halt to the televising of NBA games. That chit was funny.
