Conservative speeches, here is what I came away with

I don't vote republican or democrat , I vote for who I think is best no matter the party. That out of the way I really haven't liked anyone running against Obama so far and the thought of another Obama term also makes me ill.

I couldn't sleep last night and wound up watching cspan, hey , it was either that or infomercials and I don't need Chuck Norris telling me how to get fit. They were replaying the speeches from friday conservative speeches so I watched.

Guy opening for Santorum, made the joke, a conservative, a moderate, and a liberal walk into a bar, bartender says "hi Mitt" . ok, not great but you get the point. I expected more Romney bashing to come.

Santorum himself I mostly liked what he had to say and I think he meant what he said, he seemed to have some fire or emotion in what he was saying and overall seemed genuine enough. He didn't spend much time on his record or bashing others, but pretty much stuck to the facts and what he wanted to accomplish. A lot of it made sense and I can't say I would vote for the guy but he seemed sincere.

Guy opening for Romney came out and proceeded to talk about the great guy he has known , really this guy reminded me of a mobster the way he talked and had that thick Jersey accent.

Romney started off okay , not great, but not bad, then it went downhill. His entire speech seemed to be about how great a guy he was, I was seriously expecting him to say "I love me, don't you love me too !" . I almost felt like the guy had a mirror in front of himself, talking to it like a bird in a cage that doesn't realize the thing in the mirror isn't real. I caught several micro-expressions that were enough to tell me that the guy is talking out of both sides of his mouth. Reminded of when a car salesman is trying to sell you a lemon on the lot and smile while doing it.

Gingrich sent out his wife to do his opening and I swear whoever did that hair for her must have been associated with whoever does Lady Gaga outfits. It looked like something cast in plastic and set on her head. That combined with her nose, which looks like a beak on a bird, made it hard for me to pay attention to her making very bad , terrible, awful , jokes about Newt. The kind of jokes that died out in the 1950's. I expected her to say ' Newt is just a swell guy !' shortly followed by Gingrich playing as Desi Arnaz saying "I'm home !"

Gingrich himself made a bunch of very bold statements like executive orders repealing Obamacare, Dodd Frank, and several other bills on his first day in office, followed by the removal of both the EPA and the Department of Energy, and closing the border to Mexico. He wasn't talking long term for a lot of this stuff , but made statements to the effect of within 2 hours of taking office, pretty bold Newt. I felt in the end that he somewhat believed what he said but at the same time wasn't fully confident he could do what he said.

Overall I felt like, Santorum - would stand his ground and fight for what he believed , even if it did harm to others, Romney - would back down or fail to do what he said and would laugh it off if challenged as something that wasn't his fault, Gingrich - would fight for what he said but if it didn't go his way would pretend he wasn't home and not answer the phone.

I found youtube links for the video of the speeches.

In Romney, I see a guy with core values made of jello rather than stone.

In Santorum, I see a man who wants to head a theocracy and destroy all that he does not like.

In Gingrich, I see a pompous ass prone to the "baffle them with bullshit" school of thought.

I see all three happily telling all manner of lies. And they all promise to work miracles with executive power.

Not much of a selection.

And Obama? I've had my disappointments for sure. He's certainly paid a price during the learning curve of being President. I hope he's learned well and is finally prepared to do a lot better.

Did Ron Paul have a speech, or no?

*edit* Ok, I just checked, I guess he declined a speech invitation this year, but his son Rand spoke the day before.

I think that is about how most rational people see those 3 candidates. Even though Obama has been less than amazing as Pres, he would still get my vote over any of those 3 guys. I was hoping for a real honest conservative would step up, but if this is the best the GOP can field..well that's just sad 🙁

Ron Paul.

Since no one will ever agree 100% with a politician, at least get an honest one in there.

I agree. Id vote for him. But since the OP didnt mention him being in the speech i left him out. Plus even though i like him i dont think he actually stands a chance of getting the GOP nomination. If the nominies were voted in by people he may, but since the nomination comes from within the GOP..no way they will back him.

That's not bold, that's scary.

Imagine how quickly the country will resemble the 1950' to 1970's with choke filled air and poisoned water like Love Canal all over again.

He wasn't in the coverage I saw on cspan, they didn't even mention his name.

Santorum said that his first days in office he would do similar with obamacare and approve the pipeline and encourage more use of fraction drilling and more drilling for oil.

Video links in the post now.
