Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, facing a $283 million deficit that needs to be closed by the end of June, will skip more than $100 million in debt payments to balance the books thrown into disarray by his tax cuts.

Delaying the $108 million principal payment due in May on short-term debt would free funds. The move doesn’t require legislative approval, the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau said in a Feb. 13 memorandum. The terms of the debt sale allow Wisconsin to defer the payment in any given year, a procedure known as a restructuring, without defaulting.

Silly liberal media! They are just restructuring! It's OK,.. not like this 'delay' will cost more mon,..
Walker’s plan would increase debt-service bills by $545,000 in the next budget year, which starts July 1, and by $18.7 million in the one after that.

Remember - if anyone else skips payment on money owed, they are TV/iPhone buying, tattoo getting and drug using scum of society that just want a free ride.

When a conservative politician does this - they are flexing some fiscal responsibility muscle.

Wisconsin has a state income tax upwards of 8%. They should be swimming in money.

Eh I think they are giving Dayton a bit too much credit for how MN has performed. Even in our worst years we were ahead of the national avg when it came to unemployment.

http://www.deptofnumbers.com/unemployment/minnesota/

I don't like Dayton because he caved to a billionaire named Zygi Wilf. And forced middle class families to fund an NFL stadium so Zygi could make hundreds of millions.

Anyways this is a good article I came across the other day.

Policy decisions decades ago set the state on a path to success. I would guess economy wise MN is probably one of the closest in the country to what you may find in Europe. Generous social welfare system, wealth redistribution, focus on education and healthcare, upward mobility.

the deficit sucks.

But still lower then the democrats 2 billion before walker

http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin...m-doyle-says-wisconsins-projected-budget-sho/

With less than two months left in the term, Gov. Jim Doyle’s administration department released a report showing a $1.5 billion deficit for the next two-year budget cycle. Although that number is official, the agency’s chief -- noting caveats included in the report -- almost immediately began portraying the actual deficit as closer to $2.2 billion.

and that was with all the high taxes.

Basically, all politicians suck and are not looking out for the best interests of the people.

Now can we please collectively come together as a country and kick out all these career politicians and replace them with actual "public servants" who want what's best for us?

Walker learned from Arizona.

1) Cut taxes until there is a funding crisis
2) Use crisis as excuse to push ridiculous agenda
3) Tell everybody you saved the state from the crisis
4) Collect payout from those who pocketed the money
5) Repeat

Isnt this the recipe for everything govt related?

Perhaps you didn't notice, but almost every problem that government tries to solve is one they created.

Well he should just cut taxes for the rich even further, that should do it! Yay Republican "logic". I can't help but wonder what sort of massive brain trauma it takes for someone to be a Republican.

One they created with... tax cuts. Looks like Wisconsin is going the way of Kansas, huh?

Lol. You are always good for a political hack laugh. It isn't just the stupid righties with their tax cuts that cause problems. On the left, we have them screaming that it isn't enough taxes. "We need to throw more money at the problem. If only we had more money then the problem would be fixed."

If one wants to know what Walker's agenda is, then just follow the money trail Walker is leaving behind him, and voila!

Extrapolate that nationwide, and voila!

The Republican dream come true: bankrupt the gov't (the people) to drive it to its knees so the REAL owners of the nation can come out of the closet and claim its rightful place.

As we’ve explained, it’s not a "deficit" number as Walker and others in Madison often call it. It’s a pre-budget estimate designed to illustrate the size of the shortfall or challenge the governor faces when putting together a budget.

The shortfall figure includes all the requests from state departments, and also predictions of how much tax revenue the state will collect.

...

What’s more, tax cuts pushed by Walker and Republicans in the Legislature play into some of the challenge that faced budget-makers, as projected revenues have fallen short.

When the problem is a deficit, that is true.

Too obvious, isn't it? Repubs cut taxes to create a fiscal crisis, then cut everything else to "solve" the problem they created. Witness Kansas. And now, witness Wisconsin. Wash, rinse & repeat until we slide int a third world pattern of wealth, income, infrastructure & services.

Righties see the steamroller that's flattening middle class incomes. It scares the shit out of them, rightfully so. They just haven't figured out who's at the controls.

It's not the folks who've already been flattened, that's for sure.

Better than Doyle or the multiple clowns the left ran against him IMO.

Really? Because based on the numbers I don't see any improvements over his predecessor. Sure you can cherry pick the data but the picture remains the same.

Looks like more of the same to me.

However, I do find their relentless 'butt hurt' over Walker to be quite entertaining though. But I didn't really understand the depth of their mental depravity until I saw a large group of them demonstrating outside Walker's 70-yr-old parents home a couple days ago. Unfortunately, I'm at a loss for words to properly insult them.
