Conroe Upgrade

I do not think that is the good G Skill... are you overclocking or tweaking the RAM in any way? If you are then you want the G Skill HZ 6400, if not then you want the cheapest sticks you can find that run the speed you're looking for.
 
I would like to overclock. I've heard these processors have nice OCability. I can't spend too much more than this.
 
Unfortunately you need to spend money to get overclocking RAM, so you might be out of luck on that. If you want to overclock only the processor you need to make sure your motherboard has good memory dividers.

Will this be a gaming machine? If so, I would suggest that you should get a cheaper AMD platform, and spend the extra money on a better graphics card and better RAM. I have been flamed for suggesting this by the Intel fans who think Conroe is god, and I know conroe is very nice, however, in reality both the Athlon 64 and the Core 2 Duo are very fast processors and modern games are mostly GPU limited.
