Conroe + SLI

I ran into the upcoming RD600 motherboard preview @tweaktown.com, and found the following tidbit.
Intel has recently teamed up with nVidia (or visa-versa) to allow users to officially run SLI dual graphics on Intel 975X based motherboards which might be a result of the internals testing?s of the RD600 platform or maybe purely just a reaction to AMD and ATI?s news. Nevertheless, things are starting to heat up and it?s a good time to be a consumer.

Is this true? If so, it's a great news since the NForce500 series' FSB overclocking is rumoured to be inferior to that of P965/975X. SLI users wouldn't be forced to choose NForce board.

I've heard that it will work on MOBILE parts, since Intel doesn't allow Centrino machines to use third-party chipsets. I dont think it'll happen on the desktop side, though.

I find it highly ironic that Quadro's can run SLI on 975 chipsets but regular 7800/7900's aren't good enough to.

Just figured that out yesterday...

All the SLI/Crossfire incompatibilities are just driver lockouts. Of course Nvidia doesn't want to lock out its highest margin market.

IF anyone wants to run SLI on 975/965, just use mod'ed drivers.

Again, this has nothing to do with hardware incompatabilities. This is just a software lockout.

I've got a bridge. Any links to modded drivers? I have a 955X board I might like to try this on.
