aroudn the middle of the page

quote :
"Over at HKEPC, they tested the next generation Conroe - Intel Core E6700 - is tested on an Asrock 77i65G motherboard. This is a i865G motherboard with ICH5, which means that it was meant for last generation's Pentium but is still compatible with the fastest CPU Intel has. The rev 2.0 version comes with an AGP 8X slot - I am not kidding - a mATX format, three PCI slots, RoHS compliance, SATA/PATA ports and DDR400 compatibility. HKEPC did not overclock the Conroe which runs at 2.66GHz. There are a couple of 3DMark 05 benchmarks as well."

get the hell out lol , no way

this gives us intel user a little hope

why in gods name would you WANT to use AGP and DDR for Conroe?, there will be plenty of cheap motherboards that support Conroe when it coems out that won't force you to use outdated components.

What if you have a DDR Athlon64 and want to upgrade? Some people have expensive DDR they might want to keep... It means they only need a new mobo and CPU.

Im saying that since the mobo is revision 2.0 that means they "MIGHT HAVE" update the VRM to VRM11, so that it will run conroe

but will current mobo run it?? it still a question, as u can see VRM effect a lot

Well the rev 2.0 boards are already out, since they released them for the C1 revision preslers, so yeah, I'm sure they upgraded the VRM as well. If you have an older revision, it's not going to support it.

there should be a loss in performance, or not? so this would made upgrading from a A64 to a slowed down Conroe kind of absurd.

Why Ass-rock may be a cheap alternative I am sure it will be a horrible ocer...probably none working locks...

Wait for the real boards by the big boys....Looking For MSI,DFI, and Asus

DDR would have terrible performance with conroe. :( you would be better off with the A64. The intel architecture needs massive amounts of bandwith. AMD does not.

I wouldn;t get the farm on that. Intel USED to need bandwidth, but Conroe is a new design. It might actually work better on DDR !

And assuming it's a dual channel board, it's not hugely less bandwidth than what Conroe typically would get.

I get the impression that this is a new motherboard (or at least firmware) using an old chipset, not an old motherboard that just happens to be compatible. The old motherboard shouldn't even have the right socket, should it?

It's an LGA775 motherboard, it's been out for a while, but only the most recent revision that is compatible with the C1 revision presslers will have conroe support.
