I'm looking into buying the rig early, and was wondering what/if any motherboards are available. I'm looking into SLI as an option, but I'm primarily after a stable motherboard with onboard raid and decent overclockability.

I believe anything with s775 and the 975x or 965 chipset will do the trick. There are about 5 or 6 out right now if I'm not mistaken.

I would stick with name brands you know, such as abit or asus. Some cheaper brands may not get a bios update to support conroe.

Thanks, PC Surgeon. I think I'll look into that one. Looks like it has everything I need, and it's relatively cheap. The 2gb max memory concerns me, but for that price I can't bitch and moan. If I want to upgrade beyond that I'd just buy a new mobo down the road sometime.

Exactly my thinking with that board. Saves you cash for other things. It looks to be the Asrock 939 Dual Counterpart, and if it's anywhere close...we will be happy campers :-D

So if I bought one of the Asrocks off newegg now it would be compatible with conroe. I was wondering if a specific revision was needed or not?

Cody, if you click on the link for the motherboard above, on that page click on "manufacturer's site".....when you click that it will state what it supports. :)

The Asrock mobos look tempting but wont using DDR rather than DDR2 slow down performace? All the reviews show a FSB of 266 on the Intel 975 mobos with DDR2. I am currently running a SKT 775 Pen D 805 with DDR ram and the default there is 133. The multi on the 805 is 20 but on the least expensive Conroe its just 7. Do you have to have DDR2 in order to get the most out of this cpu when you overclock?

Ok I need some help here. I want to get the Core 2 Duo and have the Nvidia 7950GX2. Which Mobo do you recommend?
