I understand why low res benches are used to show true cpu power, but i think we need real world benches (at higher res) to truely see if the power of the conroe will actually give a big overall performance increase at resolutions that we actually game at.

You know the saying.. if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I still placed a pre-order for one, though. Their real-time stock thing says ETA of July 5th (yeah right).. but they say they have 3,040 of them on their way (plausible). The price was reasonable, though: $343. (E6600)

that means they ordered 3040 there is no way they'll get 3040 right away

I doubt you (or anyone else here) is in a position to say that something is a "no way" scenario.

At this time, they have a total of 79 advance orders (of which mine is one). I don't know how likely it is they'll get 3,040 of them, but I would say it's pretty likely they'll get at least 79 of them.

3 weeks of ownage over AMD and before price cuts....seems like a good strategy...also the new mobo's are starting to show up at e-tailers all over.

965 mobo's should be available in time for the launch later this month. Other boards based on other chipsets should be available around that time too.

It won't be just Newegg. There's gonna be short supply so the prices will be high everywhere.

There's an actual honorable store who's asking $340 USD for E6600 pre-orders.
They've also got some great deals on some nice Team Group DDR2 RAM.
