So we know AM2 is getting launched May 23 according to Dailytech. A little birdy said AMD was bumping it up so that they would have their product out of the door before conroe. But wait, Conroe was gonna ship out in Christmas last I heard. Surely Conroe isn't coming out that soon. Anyone heard the same of different? So when is conroe suppose to come out?

Relax, just a few developers and testers have 'em now and in a few weeks if you want to use your wallet instead of your brain to run your PC, Intel will be ready for you!

Where are you seeing a public release of Conroe in a few weeks?

Projected release dates are mostly B.S.

Competitive forces drive when something comes out or doesn't more than anything else.

Conroe is scheduled for a 3rd quarter release, not Xmas. I'm sure Intel wants product on the shelf for the school buying season, so I would think late July to early August is probably the goal.

Well that fits my timeline perfectly, so I hope it holds up, or is earlier of course.

Edit: Just read this on Mike's Hardware:
Intel Conroe desktop CPU is expected to be released in July on a 65nm process. :

So July seems about right....for now....

And a little bird I spoke with tells me even that July date is as late as they'll let it go. Relax and things will happen when they happen. The smart people make the most of what they've got and don't upgrade for no good reason.

I spoke to Intel directly about this recently.

And I'll look for my stock to go up in August. :D

If you guys don't own stock in Intel, you're crazy.

WTF, why would they do that? Just launch the thing or not :|

I guess they will be trying to generate excitement/interest from all the benchmarks and whatnot that come out in June, but if they looked around they would see there is already plenty of excitement being generated so delaying the launch for that reason would be totally unnecessary.
