Hmm, a quick calculation (including shipping whenever possible) is showing a total just over $2,800. Not including any sound components, keyboard, mouse, optical drives, or tax.

Somethings gotta give...

CPU, PSU, and HD have been ordered.

The rest is still up for debate.

Hopefully the buy.com order takes one week or less to process and not the full two.

How bout just getting an X1900XT for now, especially as ATi's price drops have just been announced.

You can always go CF later if desired.

Also, i do hope you didn't listen to those recommending the PCP&C 510W PSU, as it's not ideal for CF/SLI setups.
The Seasonic 600W or OCZ GameXstream 600W = better choices IMHO.

Another way to save money would be getting the E6400 instead of E6600.
It still OCs very well.

Isn't that HP LCD rather expensive for an old panel?
There's the 2405FPW Dell, which should be less, & a bit better panel IIRC.

Best of both worlds, use OS X for internet and media and XP for games.

Did you even read teh OP?

They need an entire new system for that price, not just a tower.

I did end up with the Seasonic.

The person I am aiding with the build would prefer the GX2.

I also ended up choosing a 20.1" Samsung, as I had to cut somewhere. We had blown the budget by about 10-15%, and since he's going from a POS Dell Laptop, I hardly think he'd mind playing at 1600x1200 with every setting turned up, and he'd concurred. So the monitor can be considered a closed matter.
