Connection problems...

Well I seem to be having connection problems for the past 2 days to almost all projects, Seti, Einstein, Folding, CPN, Predictor, Rosetta, SZTAKI, Leiden, QMC, Malaria control.. and I don't just mean my boinc clients, I mean I can't even get to their websites, from either my work pc, my isdn dial-up at home or wap over my cellphone.

All I get is "The following error was encountered: Unable to determine IP address from host name for setiathome.berkeley.edu
The dnsserver returned: Server Failure: The name server was unable to process this query" But when I ping the url, it gives me the ip and then just request timed out.

If nobody else is having problems and it doesn't seem that anybody else is, then I gess it might be a dns problem in my country.. I've tried different dns servers but nothing. The weird thing is all other sites I go to works just fine, only those won't work!

So my pcs should be out of work by now.. My cache is set for 2 days, as I only dl work at night and more than 2days worth of work just is to much to dl to keep me off the problem radar at work. So my production will suck pretty much!

edit.. after some searching on local forums, I see that there might be some problems in SA, still weird that all those dc sites can't be reached while I struggle to find other sites that's not working..

I hope that the situation has been rectified. Keep us posted.

By the way, what country do you live in? I must've glanced over it in the OP and now I can't recall.

Thanks Bok, tried the other DNS server address, but that didn't work.. 🙁

I spoke to the isp guy, he says the problem looks to be somewhere overseas.. Anybody else having any problems getting to any sites whatsoever???

edit.. then I read some local forums again and looks like there might be a problem somewhere here!! 🙁

Oh and BOLt I'm from South Africa..

I haven't been seeing much SoB production from my rig lately. Considering it's an Opteron 144 at 2.7GHz running SoB 24/7, I figure I should see some nice stats, but it hovers at a point < 500K cEMs/s. I don't know why. However, the other rig that I am currently employing under my alias (an Alienware FX-57 system at my university) is producing at its usual - high - output.

It's kind of weird how one is working, but the other isn't. My stats seem to have completely dropped my rig, but are displaying the Alienware system's production correctly...

Oh yeah, I forgot...

DIMES isn't working at all. It's been inactive since I moved back home for Spring Break according to the client's GUI. However, my stats increase everytime I refresh my stats page, so obviously something is doing DIMES work.

Again, very weird.

BTW, I live in Cleveland, OH/Bowling Green, OH in the United States.

Well for now I think I've found a sulotion, all my pcs at work goes through my pc that act as a proxy server and my pc then connects to another pc thats on the dmz that acts as a proxy server. So I got a list of public proxy servers and pointed the pc on the dmz to one of them and I'm now able to connect to the sites. 😀
