connection problem

Before I reformat my HDD and reinstall Win98SE, I have no problem. Now, my modem took over two minutes to connect. This also happened to my cousin who reinstalled Win98SE.

Second problem. After connecting for about an hour, suddenly all my browsers will be have an error, something about having trouble with DNS server. I reboot my PC, and the problem went away, only to return, this time, after 10 minutes of connection. Any solution?
 
Well the drivers I'm using now is the same as the one before reinstallation. My cousin's modem is using the latest drivers for his modem. Yet both of us having the same problem.
